I interact with farmers in their fields in India and also administer an Agribusiness Knowledge Centre. The problem in remote controlling of Agricultural Pump Sets is not that straight forward in India. There are several problems in India which include
1)If it is a SMS based system, the farmer may feel that the SMS is sent, but then it is not delivered win an assured way to the pumpset as SMS is a store & forward system. 2)It is not clear if there is power at the Pump Set and if if Yes, if correct Voltage is there? 3)Many Pump Sets draw more current due to sub standard make and sometimes they do not start 4)If current goes off after starting the pump momentarily/there is a low voltage and the pump is OFF, the farmer may be feeling that the pump is ON, while in practice it is OFF 5)If the farmer forgets to send remote OFF message, the Pump runs continuously wasting both water & energy.
Several other practical problems are faced at the field level. An Intelligent Pump Controller is designed to address these problems and any one interested can contact me.

Sir.. People are talking not good about your opionion here and honestly this was perhaps not the right forum. Appreciating your findings however however these findings should also result in solution right? Dont mind about the comments here. Keeep going
Got a chance to interact with Mr. Santosh. He is a real superb guy with lots of patience and hard work. The only problem for him was funds. he is getting recognition but always run short of funds even after spending about 20 years in pursue of his dream to help farmers. request all to visit his website and help his cause for farmers with whatever way you can ..
that is the best technological product after the intelsoft PCs.
even poor house maids, auto rikshaw drivers, the delivery boys of food items, packaged water suppliers etc. etc. use it to improve their way of working and increase their income!
Bur it can used in field itself. It is very hard to go and switch off when last row gets water. Farmer or labour has to run for that. This technology is useful there.

you can check the time it takes to irrigate the land.
switch on and off for this duration and ir will irrigate. Anyway the farmer has to go t field once a day or in 3 days to double check to see the bunds and supply lines and other work are done properly.
But it will save daily twice going to fiend and standing in sun waiting for field to fill in 1-4 hours depending on needs.
