Monsoon is not uniform
by vivek on May 13, 2012 04:19 PM

If one has a look at the all the years of Monsoon data, some parts of the country has good amount of rainfall whereas other parts of the country reel in droughts.

So interlinking of all river waters in India is a good solution. Also we should explore sea water resources like sea water harvesting, sea water desalination, cloud seeding etc. to cope up with increasing water needs for human and agriculture use.

@We should reform - Service sector plus Agriculture as well
by rama anne on May 05, 2012 07:32 AM  | Hide replies

Unless our Plicy Makers stay focussed and all Political parties keep Politics away from DEVELOPMENT ,we will see lots of Friction and sleepless nights

i)Yes DR JP Narayan has atriculated that we do indeed have 19th century politics vs 21st Economy

Yes ,we have political structures in place

we have Mps Parilament at New Delhi
we have CM(Chief Minister ) and District Magistrate
Then we have Muncipal Councils and Village Panchayats as a Third level

Unless Muncipal Coucils are adequately equipped with manpower and trained we will not service deleveries on par

Then we have 21st century IT Service sector - like TCS,WIPRO and HCL etc
Everyday ,the CEOs of the Indian IT service sector will be looking at the Economy with Global Context

Then there is elections and Indian citizens looking for delivery of services

so how do we keep Policies at the GOVT level to keep 21st CENTURY industry on par with the rest of the world

How do we mitigate the Risks
If Indias AGRICULTURE is dependent on typical Indian Monsoon ,then we are very much dependent on it
Likewise ,Our IT service sector is dependent on External factors

That means our Farmers are dependent on Monsoons
Our Service sector on External markets

how do we delink the two:
Agriculture
-------
is all within our boundaries and in our own hands ,and we can reform it
with
i)Interlinking of the River waters project
ii)we can mitigate the service sector dependence on gradually building

inhouse intellectaul property rights

I)B.H.E.L
II)LCA TEJAS PROGRAM
III)DELHI METRO
have all indian management and Indian ingenuity
We have the capabilities ,and the above positive examples ,are very significant to imbibe and adopt

but for larger things to happen
---
we need to have focussed GOVT
At the moment it looks like ,everyone is following their own direction

---
For Example
-----
It seems that our HON PM ,wants to see that India - PAK peace process set up before he demits office

ii)BJP vs CONG politics is fully focussed on varioys electrol alliances ,seat adjustments etc

iii)We have regional issues in AP sometimes in Maharastra

Then we have Citizens of India who are concerned with the state of affairs and want reforms like
JANLOKPAL bill

we have Indian industry that is wary of Global economic scenario

so how will we tackle all issues
yet keep reforms in place

For that we need
----
i)Good government that knows Indias strong and weak points
ii)we need JANLOKPAL ,NATIONAL JUDICIAL COMMISSION and other reforms
iii)we need good CMs at state level who usher development examples are GUJARAT and BIHAR etc

@Can we interlink the RIVERS
by rama anne on May 04, 2012 11:47 AM

This is my two biggest worries
----
Agri secor dependence on MONSOON ,how do we delink that and mitigate the risk

Can ISRO provide us with answers

or we just need to use Rivers linking PROJECT

I feel RIVERS interlinking is worth taking up

Some say it will impact Flora and Fauna, and some say Neighbours permissions

I feel we might use IRS satellite mapping to get the correct points at which we can do that diversion

Can our Civil engineers seriously look into this

WATER is essential besides to Agriculture ,even to the INDUSTRY

You controlled experiment went viral last time

Otherwise, nobody would have suspected malplay. This single suspicion act, created beasts of sizable proportions which needs a lot of taming. The beasts in all invented 4 diseases namely, swine flu, dengu, chicken guinea and listeria, which were embattled over the years.

People shuld either do it discreetly or make it evident and public, come clean and rejoice the greatest invention of all times. Afterall, what's a rain worth for a dying patient? Nothing! It can't bring a life back.

Since Nehru regime this idea has been float, but if the population becomes independent and not dependent on governmental handout, eats more than one meal a day, How then will the Babus rule. Who would listen to them. See Babus are a criminal race and they require vast majority to suffer in extreme conditions in order that they beg for food , for the basic, they would not be fit to demand their rights but only fit to beg a starving person is easy to control.

British used famine to bring the country to knees and submission when 40-60 population had died in these dire circumstance created by artificial famine of course their propaganda was listen to as most had died, the rest not strong enough to fight. Like the propaganda look why don't eat meat and be strong instead of starve, such lies made the heart of British propaganda, and misrule. In fact British rule was a large environmental disaster where before it larger portion of the country was irrigated not depended on rains. India was a rich and prosperous country before the Babus. Like the Famine commission determination British era that if they kept food grain production at 200kg per person then large scale famine would be avoided but at this low level of production it is insured that most of the population is not well feed, by 1946 food grin production fell to miserable 146 kg per person and has not risen since the 1960's where as china has risen three times more then India, when it was far less in 1960's.End Babus culture

Less than normal monsoon
by ramesh vyas on May 03, 2012 06:14 PM

If it is true than it is a matter of great concern. If inflation after two consecutive monsoons increasing at such an alarming rate;wat will happen to the countrymen.having such an ineffective and paralysed government and the known nexus politicians have with blackmarketeers only God will save us. We have seen time and again that people like Sharad Pawar are always at the front to capitalise on such situations ,ably supported by congress to get a fast buck.
