In gulf Sonata is available for one third of this price. Moreover no one prefers it. For same price you can get an Audi !!

Higher price in India is because of Govt's customs and sales tax duty on imported cars/parts. Otherwise how Maruthi,Mahindra, and Tata can survive?

In USA the price is more like under $20,000 for an automatic. You can buy a Camry base price for under $18,000.

The Indian failed Nano. When it comes to Tata's passenger car that very Indian says let Tata restrict to making trucks only. What a typical Indian mentality ???!!!

The Indian has been groomed by the outgoing Englishman never to learn to be proud to be an Indian. The tradition continues.

Looks more like verna, anyway people are there to buy anything, best of luck.

Drive with seat belts on and don't consume alcohol while driving and don't overspeed.

Most car manufacturers these days follow similar design across models. Volkswagaon gave exactly same looks to their 5 lacs, 10 lacs and 20 lacs cars. You dont complain when BMW has a 50 lacs car that looks similar to the 30 lacs car, do you? Hyundai is far better, Sonata is a little different than Verna, bigger and more elegant too.

Actually this is a great car, the one which is better equipped and VFM than Camries and Accord. Only negetive is it is a Hyndai, but even in west, perception of the Korean company is fast improving.

Because everyone uses the same CAD softwares. It has library of components and thats why you would find increasingly more cars looking the same. If its central dashboard it will be there verywhere. Funny lights by everyone and similar curve lines in the car.

Well said. Unfortunately the Hyundai people are being too hasty - launching about seven cars looking the same - from eon , I10 , I20 , Verna , Elantra Sonata and Tucson. This will be a challenge after 2-3 years when otherwise excellent cars will look stale and 7 new models will have to be offered at one time.

Good reply aus ant Mr Ganesh pillai might not be aware or would have not used GPS .

In my 3 years of stay in US, I could go to a new location only with help of GPS , its a wonderful device , one more thing there are no tea stalls or shops on the road side to ask directions, once you are on US highway even to make a left turn u might have to take 10 miles for an exit.

Ok so now Indian launched car also needs GPS because there are no Tea stalls & people on roadside in USA?

Every imported car in India can have a GPS - but its usually rotting unused.

Re: cost

For anybody who can spend 22 lcas for a car, pertol price should not be much of a concern. Only reason why Diesel sells in premium segment is, resale value. This is a direct competion to accord / camry, so price is actually low. In fact it is only slighly costlier than Jetta, which is a segment below. Car should do reasonably well, but even Accord / Camry doesn't sell in large number. Problem is, anyone who can afford 22 lacs would be tempted to pay a little more and go for a BMW series 3.

BMW X1 - petrol 22 lacs and Diesel - 30 Lacs - can you calculate which is cheaper? And is that necessary point for a BMW purchase?
