no direct train from hyderabad to lucknow also..very inconvenient

tracks already used at 120% in many sectors.. even previous trains promised by mamata have not been begun.. where is space for new ones
it will only decrease speed of others as there is no notable capacity improvement

What about cutting costs before raising train fares ?
by Dev Gupta on Mar 15, 2012 12:02 AM

No matter what Trivedi says, no private investor will sink their money into Indian Railways when it has an operating ratio of nearly 100 % ( NO profit, though they are deferring maintenance & fudging the books to show an OR of 95 % ). The biggest increase in operating cost has been due to 6 th Pay commission awarding a flat 25 % pay raise to all IR employees. The employees are not doing 25 % more - not even 5 % more.

To attract private investors the OR of IR needs to be improved to 80 % in the next 4 years at an average annual improvement of 5 %. This can be done only way to generate capital to improve the Indian improvements the operating ratio of the Indian railways must be improved by 5 % every year for the next 4 years so that at the end it improves from current 95 % to 75 %.

Cut fuel cost, do more maintenance in - house, start with cleaning up all stations and railway properties,

Why do they keep running loss - making Passenger Trains ?
by Dev Gupta on Mar 14, 2012 11:51 PM

and then add even more for political reasons.

When they force passengers in Metros like Mumbai travel in horribly over-crowded trains ?

That is no way to run a railroad.

Trains that do not earn enough in certain stretches should be combined at junction stations. Need shunter locos for that.

Invest the savings to improve service in Bombay, like
1. run Double Decker local trains and
2. add 2nd level to platforms to speed up passenger movement
3. speed up train movement and reduce gap between trains by improved braking & signaling
4. eventually add new tracks
5. where extra land is not available build new elevated tracks over existing.

Trivedi seems to be just a politician who is using old buffoons like Pitorda & Kakodkar for cover to raise fares.

As usual, TN gets only a small share of the new trains. Blame it on the poor infra. The immediate requirement is doubling and electrification of tracks in TN.

NONSENSE !

Typical South Indian belly aching w/o any facts

If you had just taken the trouble to first check the list of new trains you would have found that out of the 75 new trains proposed NINE (9) originate / terminate in Tamil Nadu - that is two more than new Trains for W. Bengal, the state Trivedi is from.

So. India got Independence free w/ no sacrifice ( they actually collaborated with the British ) and since then thanks to far too many So. Indians in ndian Govt. they have sucked Govt. of India investments in new industries like aerospace, electronics, IT, defense to the South.

You have been getting more than your fair share and then complaining that you been getting less !

Bangalore or any south indian cities have developed by enterp's and people themselves. I dont think Govt developed new industries like aerospace, electronics, IT, defense etc in south India.
I agree there are far poor states in Eastern and North India. Just railways or Govt can't help to develop the place, it is in the hands of people like you to think better.
Except Delhi/Chandigarh nothing is good in your place, think, work and develop rather relying on Govt resources. First stop using Beedas and start using your brain
