modern constructions

the most boring things ever created by man are the so called "modern constructions", they all look like a pile of tin cans or match boxes ..no beauty whatsoever and nothing that amazes you enthralls you other than its imposing heights ...

NEW DELHI - India is to acquire at least eight warships from South Korea in a bid to bolster its maritime defense, under a proposed defense deal likely to be inked soon, local media reported.

As part of a growing "strategic partnership" with South Korea, India will buy at least eight advanced minesweeping and hunting warships -- it will get two of the vessels from South Korean firm Kangnam Corporation, while the other six will be manufactured by Goa Shipyard in western India after transfer of technology, 'The Times of India' newspaper reported.

"The contract is now being finalized after the conclusion of the commercial negotiations," an unnamed source was quoted as saying.

India will used these warships to detect and destroy underwater mines, often planted by both state as well as non-state actors, the report said.

South Korea is well developed
by Obaid Rehmani on Jun 13, 2012 11:14 PM  | Hide replies

Japan and to a large extent South Korea are well developed countries. South Korea got freedom from Japan on Aug 15,1945 and they hosted successful Olympic games in 1988. We were also free exactly a couple of years after South Korea and not yet equipped to host Olympics. Maybe we are still 10-15 years away from getting Olympic slot. Japan is even ahead in the sense that they hosted Olympics in 1964. In my opinion hosting of Olympics successfully is an important barometer of level of development of a country. Samsung, Hyundai are other success stories that have put S.Korea on world map. Lets hope we can surpass them one day.

Become developed like How???
With the kinda corrupt, selfish, self-centered, power-hungry idiots running this infernal land, the only thing anyone can be assured of, is even more poverty and misery, on an even grander scale if such is possible.
These morons have no vision creating entities like Songdo IBD....they only care, first anf foremost, about enriching themselves by looting the corrupt YSRs, Lalus, Mulayams, Rajas, Mayawatis et al is ample proof of this.

It is a fraction
by dariusthemarius on Jun 13, 2012 06:38 PM  | Hide replies

Actually Korean real estate is a tiny fraction in terms of cost of Indian RE.

Slums like Mumbai attract a price of say 10000/sqft which can easily get you a nice place even in NY city.

by dariusthemarius on Jun 13, 2012 06:36 PM

And then , we have SH^T holes in MUMBAI which cost 3 times. ALL ITALIAN NAMES ..TOWERS...

Not even proper toilets and drainage system.

With the cost of 1 BHK in Mumbai, one can fking buy a whole farm house in Korea.

India can do such cities, but it lacks a political Will & VISION.
THis in turn, is because of regionalism, Religionism prevalent in our society.
We are divided at every level.
Also uneducated.
So the politicians dwell on these shortcomings for their vote banks, instead of 'really' working for the country, because the uneducated/educated masses dont care for the real work, but just the divisionary politics.
So, in the end, its 'ours' fault that we dont have such high class cities.
