We are not dependent on anyone.
by opoii kll on Jun 12, 2012 03:30 PM  | Hide replies

It only goes to prove that we need not depend on any one.

We have probably the earliest know industrial estates in the world.

To day we look to the west for industrialisation because we do not believe in ourselves.

We have to believe in ourselves.

Yes one of the oldest is right word.
But some people start claiming the oldest and it becomes a problem.

by Liza Jothi on Jun 12, 2012 03:17 PM  | Hide replies

Even after such discoveries, are we going to say that the Tamil script is derived from Asokan Brahmi ? Kodumanal is at leasr 200 years older than Asoka

Please note that Prakrit is also written at the same sight. Asoka did not invent the script he might have ordered to leave some inscriptions on the rocks with existing script.
Oldest Brahmi inscriptions are much older then Ashoka , Emperor Chandragupta Maurya ( great grandfather of Ashoka also left ) some inscriptions in south India when he became Jain Monk in present day Karnataka.
Pali language at the time of Buddha was written in Brahmi and before that also a lot of literature is written which used this script.

Nice read, and informative too. We predate the aryans. It is from India, people went and settled in Europe and other places. We are the womb of civilization

Hold on this propoganda for a second and pay attention to the fact that you have found inscrition in Prakrit as well and it is written in Brahmi script so no it does not predate Aryans but of same age roughly.
This is just 2500years old and you need to go back atleast 4000 Years to predate Rigveda ( as per most estimates).
However Mehargarh in Baluchistan is oldest civilization is subcontinent which is 7000 - 9000 years old

No history will bring you progress. It can be useful to be nostalgic. Hard work, unity in diversity, give and take plicy, flexibility and universality only bring progress at any point of time. That nation only will be great.

My friend read the last couple of lines,"Not only does this excavation bring to light the rich industrial and cultural past of this region, and reveal to us an important chapter in India's economic history, it also offers the people of Kodumanal a better future.

Roads are being laid, drinking water and electricity being provided. Youngsters from Kodumanal have started going to school and college — and some will have been inspired to learn history."
If we can be inspired by our past no harm in learning about it. Completely agree with rest of what you said.
