Taj and Oberoi Grossly Overpriced
by Vineet Nagar on Jul 17, 2012 07:48 PM

These hotels like most hotels in the India were grossly overpriced. For about US $100 - we get a great room in the US with breakfast included in almost every city, but Taj and Oberoi despite being in a poor country with cheap labor charged some $500 - thanks to the loot the congress permit raj allowed them. These people had almost 100% occupancy because government ministers got bribed and did n't give land for others to build hotels. Almost same with other Indian products like cars and scooters.

Welcome to the competition and the new world.

Indian hotels always overcharged
by Tom Dick on Jul 17, 2012 07:48 PM

It is a fact that Indian hotels always charged more than it is worth. It is good to have competition so that the public gets real value for money.

When foreign brands arrive, the price crashes. Does it mean indians were looting all these while.
