The city of Bombay had a very fine network of trams which have been forgotten, and now even the iconic red BEST buses are being pushed to CORNER.
With all the bus depots being systematically given away to builders for development, the city is crying out for a resurrection of the BEST company which was inherited from the British. Bombay trams can be restored in the arterial roads and the double decker buses can be increased in number to bring more pleasure to travel and less congestion on the roads.

Swiss bank, other foreign bank employees(less money from netas if metro projects are replaxced by tram projects ), Desis in Gulf(less petrol use) will loose their jobs, Car lobby will face heavy losses if modern, cheap and efficient trams are used.
Thanks to oversight and negligence of town planners and politicians for 21st century technology our Delhi has the 'modern' Gargantuan (huge, enormous !) Behemoths monsters Buses engineered by Tata and Ashok Leyland plying on the wide roads and narrowing them with their mountainous sizes utterly unconquerable and such large turning radius that they eventually scrap a lot on to vehicles of hap less delhites ! These metal beasts have made their own the -car and bike space ,they form a hapzard serpentine que obstructing movement during all hours of day , of smaller vehicles which lead to utter chaos and jams, such huge amount of public money is being wasted on purchase of such buses ,to think of it would have been a fair gift to people of the city to abolish these monsters - relieve them ! and adapt to the clean Trams - for there are so many good reasons for it to make a comeback ! let me be one of the first to back and vote for TRAMS !

Souvik.... your city's name is not KOKATA. Its Kolkata. First learn to say it in Bengali. Not sure if that is your mother tongue ? Nevertheless you should be able to say the name of your Global city right dada :)

Its a fantastic city with heritage...I totally agree. Chennai should also have retained their trams - the legacy left behind by the Britishers. These trams are so nice, slow, tension free and non polluting both in terms of noise or emissions.
One fantastic thing about West Bengal is that they preserve their heritage. Really amazing dude ! I too love Bengali culture a lot. Have never been there but have seen many movies, heard from friends and sampled a lot of bengali cuisine in many cities in India.
Global and all ...well I tend to disagree. But a fantastic Indian city for culture and all...not infrastructure and safety though.

The auto rickshaws and the buses in any city of India are like tin boxes. If you try to spit on the sky, it comes on your face at the end.
