The number 16 on this list is Art Institute of Chicago. This is the site where Swami Vivekanada delivered his famous speech "Sisters and Brothers of America". There is also a small pathway in front of this building which says, Swami Vivekanada way.
All the top museums of the world are in Europe and USA. They know to preserve the history and showcase that for the enjoyment and fulfilment of people and later generations. Sadly, in our country, Tagore's Nobel prize got stolen. Clearly, we do not know how to value things of merit. We are so engrossed in the useless and sickening mandir-masjid debate that we lose flair for life. (just thinking aloud...)
world artifacts are in US euro museums. Many people will see them. How many people in India visit museusms.School children do a march past inside them once.
It is no surprize that several top museums are located in the US. Several wars in which the US played a key role, the loot was brought back to the US by individual soldiers as well as the army. The WWII is particular, after the storming of Normady, thouands of valuable items that were in hitler's possesson was seized and brought back home. Second in line, the british. What they did during their rule in india is well known.
