It is a shame that common basic needs are sold by the government in public places after 65 years of Independence.
Even for easing and for urinating you have to pay in Railway stations and bus stands. This is our government.
When a railway or bus ticket is purchased by a person, he should be eligible to get every basic need of human being irrespective of his status, till he completes his journey.
In Hotels, restaurants,Public malls people are required to shed money for relieving themselves which is beyond the control of humans in this world including world leaders.
At Railway Stations and Bus stands, they are looting public in the name of providing parking facility to public.

This is a meanignless statistics, if you want to compare the standard of life in these 25 states.Because it is given in dollar terms. i.e. in the same terms in which a dollar can be used in USA. Thins in India are at least 5 to 10 times cheaper than in USA ( depending on where you buy). So the data shoud be given in purcahsing power parity (PPP). These data are avilable for countres, according to world bank, international monetory fund and CIA. I think the author failed to get these data and is in a hurry to write something
Many manufacturing plants of these big corporations, that have their HQ in Mumbai, are located outside Maharashtra. If the GDP numbers are adjusted to remove this effect, then Maharashtra's numbers will come down quite a bit.

Yes, that's a factor that is conveniently overlooked. Many companies have factories in Goa, Panjim etc, but are HQRed in MH. By the same logic, Delhi would be the richest state as the whole of GoI's public sector wealth would be accounted under Delhi!! Purchase parity cannot be used GDP since the purchase parity internally would also matter then. Certainly a 100 Rs note would buy a lot more in Assam than Bangalore/KN. Hence that part is right, $ is fine to avoid bias.

Maharashtra does not mean only Mumbai..We have a large industrial base in MIDCs in Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, Baramati and many other cities. FYI Not all GOI PSUs have HQ in Delhi.

Also check for cities with maximum GDP in India on Wikipedia. Maharashtra has 3 cities in top 15
If you travel via train from Kashmir to kanyakumari, you will notice that some part of the country is very conjusted with big cities & industries where as majority part of india is seen as a piece of barren land. Why can't Govt of india encourage setting of industries in small villages & towns and try to equally distribute all the industries, agriculture, softwares industries, population & infrastructure, roads ect in all parts of the states & country ..in this way we will be able to create a better job envrnm & balance country. If there is a foreign attact in mumbai or any major contributers then we gone for a toss but if we have a balance infrastructure then we can sustain for a long time by helping each other states.
