Biggest problem is population, then distribution of wealth to population. Somehow communists totally failed to bring any balance in between this distribution, Mamta too appears to be failed, if drastic decision to promote industry are not taken. Land cannot be increased, but industrial production and employment in industry has no limit. But with labour oriented governance, industry will not show any initiative.

Bengalis must own businesses in WB
by Zane Grey on Dec 25, 2012 07:57 PM

starting from food and raw material to buiding and real estate. This requires the creation of an investment bank with funds raised among upper middle class Bengalis. To give these start ups a fair chance of success Bengalis must patronize them and the Marwaris who have gained control all businesses in WB and E. India must be restrained from their predatory practices and unfair advantages derived from bribing Delhi politicians. Success in this philosophy of local ownership of businesses in WB should be spread to the rest of E. India.

WB's policy
by SUNIL SHETH on Dec 25, 2012 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

Its not only WB's land policy that goes against the state interest. This time it was land policy. For years together it is the ruling party's attitude and the mentality of the BONGU people that has not allowed the state to prosper. In fact, all important industries like-jute,iron & steel, engineering, coal -have shifted out the state whereas the availability of the raw material could have done far better for them. But the CPM mentality can never be changed. They always talk about Rights[DABI] and not the responsibility. More over, by genes they are very lazy community. They would like to have a govt job. Coming home at 6 pm. Have a cup of tea and discuss politics & sports and listen to Robindro songeet. Doing business or working hard is against their genes. Clearly, just observe one thing that gives ground reality picture. How many people, have came to WB & settled there?? And at the same time how many industries & people have moved out of the state ? There can not be any better measuring scale than this.

Its always harder to accept decline. Since Partition of Bengal and rule by N. Indians since Independence, Bengalis have suffered greatly. This is why they are always agitating. If they become Independent like Bangladesh and get a chance to run their own affairs then things would be a lot better. Of course the rest of India, specially the Marwaris who exploit E. India would then take a hit.

Prosper in what sense?...Do u think all other states have prospered? again in what sense?....CPIM was inducing industrial revolution in an innovative way...that's why we r getting Rajarhat Township perhaps not comparable with any other city in India...And yes many important industries are located in Kolkata...
And what do u know about Rabindrasangeet Shethji?

Perfect ostrich Bengali mentality, keeping your head under the sand & shout everything is alright. Not difficult to guess why now the state is ruled by a slum dweller like Mamata & her anti-social cronies. WB people got what they deserve. They want entertainment rather than development. For such people, Budhhadeb was a misfit as he was having vision for future.
