Why so pathetic pictures given for Indian cities
by Sauvik Basu on Apr 15, 2012 06:37 PM  | Hide replies

Rediff ?? what's this !!!! why so pathetic pictures given for Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata ??
even Dhaka and Karachi was shown in their splendour ... Delhi could be represented by Janapath, Mumbai by Queen's necklace (marine drive by night) and Kolkata by eternal favorite Victoria Memorial or by images of buildings in New Kolkata .... pathetic mentality - seems to like a propaganda from Foreign News service - pathetic.

The problem with ostriches like you is that you like turn your eyes from the filth and squalor and force yourselves to believe you live in a paradise. For the foreigners, the filth is more striking, because that is exactly they don't ordinarily see themselves. Your mentality is nauseating, not others.

Are your comments valid only for Indian cities only? What about other cities like Cairo?

Our media and our people has the worst mentality
by Incredible India on Apr 15, 2012 01:30 PM

The country cannot grow if we cannot change our mentality;
I bet there could have been far beautiful pictures available for our cities; I would not have commented if they have shown the same type of pictures for all the cities;
I have been in many among the listed one and frankly all of them have their dark side;

Majority of Indians, pakistanis and bangladeshis have no civic sense. As long as its normal for people to spit, urinate and defecate in public, our cities will continue to remain the filthiest on the earth. And its got nothing to do with poverty.

Why did rediff choose to put such a shabby photo of Kolkata? they could also put a photo pf a slum in Delhi and Mumbai. Maybe another paid news by any agency.

This should not be described as shabby photo...it is actually showing new growth (probably rajarhat area) of the city. Side by side it's actually showing widening gap between rich and poor...which was quite unacceptable in Kolkata...afterall long enjoyed socialist rule!

Don't you have any other photos of Indian cities ? Ask for few, they will be provided. No matter how much you belittle India, we are growing and will be the most powerful nation in the world in the near future.

'Near future'. Can you provide a date for that 'near future' when India will be the most powerful nation.

Also please define 'most powerful nation'.

India has more than 70% of the lepers of the world living here. Leprosy is EASILY CURABLE today. Why can 'powerful India' not cure these leprosy afflicted Indians?

World Health Organization provides free medicines (its a combination dose of 3 medicines). Why can Indian government not have WHO come in and distribute the medicines for free?

100s of thousands of farmers are committing suicide in 'Powerful India', including in Punjab - the so called bread basket of the nation. Powerful India?

Over 200 millions children school going age do NOT have schools in Bihar, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand. Powerful India?

Over 50% of people living in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata live in slums. 49% of people of chennai live in slums. Powerful India?

UNDP report on Global Human development says: 'Over 350 million people living in eight mainly Hindi speaking states of India live in worse levels of poverty backwardness and illiteracy than the poorest peoples of Sub Saharan Africa'. Powerful India?

So what date have you got in mind when that morning will arrive in the NEAR FUTURE and we can all look out of our windows and be surprised by finding ourselves in 'MOST POWERFUL NATION' in the world?

And what scenes would we see that day when we look outside?
