nothing to be proud about!

we import most the telecom eqipments, technology, there is less indigenous capacity in the above areas!

the growth in tele density is because of the technology for which we had not contributed except for screw driver based assemly lines/technology!

our real status is presented on the HDI parameters give out by the UNDP

Who does not import, UK is upgrading its exchanges and all are imported Ericsson MD110s from Norway.
And UK invented telecommunications.

our import is almost double of our exports. if we continue in this fashion we may have to mortgage our country to the exporting nations!

Poverty can be calculated on the base of No of Mobile Users and no of homes now have TV sets in India.
India has more then 850 million of Mobile users in the world 2nd highest after China. Out of every 100 Indian 70 are using Mobile phone.Even a beggar in the street is holding Mobile Phone in India and 70 per cent of homes now have TV sets.

So the beggar holding a mobile phone is to be deemed NOT POOR !

And that is exactly how we have just 26 % poor as per the Planning commission instead of the real figure of around 78 % (as per the world bank) !!

A beggar may have a cell phone and not enough money to eat, afford clean water, a place to sleep or send his kids to school.

Student to teacher: Sir do you believe in freedom of speech?
Teacher: Yes, of course.
Student: Then why do phone companies charge you?

Ok jokes apart>>> How many toilets in India per thousand?
Well over 50% Indians may have phones but less than 30% Indianshave toilets. Now you know where the priority lies.

I heard of several IT reputed company person committing suicide by jumping off from hirise company premises for flimsy reasons out of thin air. Unless they were forced to do it by their HR how will a very sane IIT trained graduate could do so, unless they were put on short leash of life by the HR itself to maximize its productivity goals.

A SIM card does not come for less than 600-1000 startup charge plus recurring monthly bill, unless now the service providers have started giving itup for free to increase customer base rapidly to gain market share for a "specific reason". What can a below 32 / day spending capacity person will be able to afford a mobile phone.
