visas
by Atanu Chatterjee on May 25, 2011 03:28 PM

In usa indian faces, irrespective of nature of their jobs, are matter of hatred due to misuse of visas. Indications are infosys would be barred from sending people to USA through B1 & L1 visa. Admittedly all other companies did that, but for some reason US congress and other authorities generally pick Infosys to deal with. This would be an exemplary to other companies and thats how usa would try to clean-up the mess.

Not Many companies come forward and sing a fake song of being ethical, neat & clean, ideological, etc. Not Many companies CEO say how hard they worked in 90's whereas most of them would have done that ... whether they succeeded or not is just another side of story

Exactly. So called top management at infosys are hyprocrites for preaching to others. At the end of the day they are nothing but a swanky body shopper outfit. So think about this B1 scandal next time you talk about infosys.

Cannot agree more..all these IT honchos are busy basking in fake glory whereas in reality they are nothing more then suited daalals. The whole busine model is about exploiting Indian workers and simply supply bodies to foriegn clients. Where is the achievement in that by these overhyped IT honchos?

But are the American companines most ethical? Every quater where there is a shortfall in expected Profit, layoffs happen. Isnt it quite ironical to take away someons job simply because you did not become as much rich as was expected

Well we are not discussing American Vs Indian companies. Concern here is why are companies trying to pretend that they are honest whereas they could not be. Earlier there was a major chunk of H1 Visa's going to smaller companies with giants in the play small companies could not do much and US had to introduce a lottery system. While bargaining with US Gov. this Big giants have faked about their reputation and their so called genuineness. This gave a major setback to samller companies whereas the way of working is almost same. Even Consulting companies should not go for L1 visa if you are placing an employee at client location but all companies did that.We are fake by choice and not by force.

For now the unemployment brigade is having an edge so Indian IT companies are being targetted.

The bottomline is to get the business, any Indian IT company needs to get its people at onshore. The kind of Visa is just a technical facilitation which the US is targetting to hamper the growth of Indian IT industry.

The giants like IBM have ODC's not because they love India but its just to make more money. The way they obtained the licenses to come and trade in India would not have been perfectly honest...Isnt it?

US not at fault.
by Kunjal Joshi on May 25, 2011 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

I see many comments that USA was fine earlier and not now, to some extent it may be true but country has history of learning from its mistakes and taking preventive measures.
Thank god at last myth of Infosys being a ethical company is challenged in some court. Murthy sir I really admire your achievements but please be honest and say that yes we do cheat as and when required in our tiny ways. Ambani's had a broader scope and vision so they did it to a large extent.

If that wouldnt be the case then there would be no IT firm in India and no IT jobs. I think in broader perpectivecompanies Infosys have created so much employment and have raised the level of middle class.....But then being an optimist its my way of seeing things....
