Re: Bail out for Citi by Techno Savvy on May 19, 2011 04:31 PM Citi was provided a $45Billion bailout package which it duly returned by restructuring its business, shutting down loss making units & also cashing out on some of its high value properties in India. Citi was lucky that its subsidiaries like the India business were not unduly affected by the sub prime crisis and thanks to the Vikram Pandit they turned the corner and returned the bailout amount. Citi is not completely out of the woods as yet but should be in the black soon enough but those days of heady profits are gone & they will have to contend with a new era. but hats off to Vikram Pandit.
