Law will not help
by Sanjay Shrivastava on May 20, 2011 10:50 AM

Law alone will not help as it requires social awakening amongst the people. Since mostly house wives employ domestic help; the one source which they find to manage the finance within their budget is to cut on the expenses on domestic help. Any such law will definitely reduce the chances for domestic helps for the employment. And as such most of the domestic helps; now a days make conditions for number of paid and unpaid leaves in month, diwali gift etc. Hence to talk about any such law is only a publicity gimmick to gain votes as pointed out by other reader. If she is so much concerned about the welfare of this class of people; let her government implements thoroughly minimum wages act and all other applicable labour laws which are already existing but could not be effectively implemented due to corruption in government.

Domestic workers often are not always exploited. Some of them take sick and dont come till the feel like coming. There are no agreements entered when they are hired. So often the interests of the employer and employees are not protected. Unless an agreement is entered regarding wages, benefits, sick, vacation is agreed mutually there is no way they will be hired if they make these demands. Sonia is living in a fools paradise.

Sonia wants their votes. she doesn't care about what you think or what really happens. If she will regulate them - will she ask them to pay due taxes etc too??
There are some maids that exploit their employers and employers that exploit the employees.
She has not experienced the maid who doesn't show up or says tomorrow is a holiday. She has only experienced the yes madam.

Has soniya ever gave leave to her maid?I doubt it.it's the vote bank and also households are not so far touched by Govt Babis to show rules book to collect haft.Imagine each house will have to cough out Rs 500 to show the Govt inspectors the registers of maid servant and out of 500 ,300 to officer and 200 to party, every year conga will collect billions without 2 G scam and Radia Tapes
What a great idea ji
