Very long back, atleast 400-500 years ago, our people have built a palace in water and it is still existing in Jaipur. We do not care to maintain and keep up what we have. Then these days, in every city we have such buildings in water - of course in rainy season when there are heavy rains.

Be very specific when you contest some information. What you are mentioning is in Udaipur and it is not built on water. They built it on a rock formation in the middle of a lake. The final product looks like it is floating on water. What the author is saying and what you wrote are different.

To be precise to quote something of equal importance is the fact that some 2,000 years back, Inca civilization built floating barges used to grow food products. Each barge is almost 100 meters square built of logs. All the logs were tied together and fertile soil was spread on the barge and it was planted with all that is required for them.
Its nice and less expensive as these house don't need toilets as occupants can squat on the edge and relieve themselves in the water. How cool and environment friendly
