Present Govt. has spoiled its case, Govt. is not dare enough to take any drastic action on its own units as Govt. is highly afraid of employees. Even the mind set of top bureacrats and politicians are in favour of employees only who have eaten the total money. In order to take correction, they have found the way of disinvestment.Actually AI requires dilution of capital by 51% so that it is run by private but govt. has its say.

Impolite airline

Air India is well fare airline for the rich and politically connected. All employees are ‘soferashi’ and chamchas. The female employees act like maharanis, struck up and rude. They have not been taught or trained being polite and respectful to the paying customers. It is a great burden for the Indian taxpayer.
If it cannot make money, it must follow other great airlines like Pan Am, ‘demise’ for the unfit. Let the market decide its future.
It is not business of Govt of India to prop it up.

'Customer Service' & 'After Sales Service' are the CRIMINAL WORLDS in our country, not only for AI IC staff but also for other fields. Take the case of any electrical or electronic device you buy, salesmen will give you millions of honey words with false promises of doing this, doing that, etc. once you pay the money, thats all, all the words were gone with the wind, your HELL OF THE TIME started with that purchase. This is the harsh reality of our country.

well said buddy...the ground staff as well as air hostesses...they r really very rude...They don't know the rules & regulations too...once I lost my digital camera just because of this Air India staff nonsense attitude & negligence at Delhi T3...They are the most useless people in handling the baggage...they totally behave like sarkari babus...no professialism at all...the old style of packing the suitcase & bag with the stripes, make the baggae shapeless & destroys the contents...The airlines was made by these netas 7 bureacrates to fly with with comfort...thats why the business class was introduced by themselves...This airlines is only for politicians, should be closed so that millions of tax money could be saved...it's really a miserable condition for the govt employee, as they have to fly with this damn thing...

AIR INDIA IS RUN BY THE WHIMS OF UNIONS. NO ONE FOLLOWS THE RULE
by Raju Dalit on May 10, 2011 06:46 AM

NOW ONE IN AIR-INDIA CAN BE GUIDED, ORDERED OR REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THE REGULATIONS. EVERYBODY HAS A GROUP AND UNIONS WHO ACT INDEPENDENTLY. ALL OF THEM, LIKE MOST INNDIANS ARE HIGHLY OR FAILY EDUCATED, GOOD PROFESSIONALS BUT THEY ARE LIKE MAWWALIS. ....LIKE REST OF US....BIG MOUTHED, CRUELLEST AND SHAMELESS ARGUMENTS.....AIR INDIA WAS DOOMED SINCD LATE 70s AFTER RESERVATION QUOTA WENT INTO ITS STAFF AND TATAS AND INVESTERS WERE BOOTED OUT.

ANYWAY, IF THE GOVT. HAVE THE GUTTS, THEY CAN DISINVEST RIGHT NOW, AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE.

AS A YOUNG BOY I STARTED TRAVELLING WITH AIR INDIA INTERNATIONALLY IN 60s and IT WAS AMONG TOP 3 AIRLINES AS FAR AS SERVICE WAS CONCERNED.

He has a symbol of corruption in india and he enjoy the positions with smiles after heavy loot as no government in india to take action against him.

Praful Patel is from Maharashtra. And Maharashtra people are rabid, and genetically corrupt, because of damaged DNA. So this was to be expected from him. Other famous marathis are Sharad Pawar, Ashok Chavan, Suresh Kalmadi,....

Divestment should be done !
by nonconformist1986@rediffmail.com on May 09, 2011 08:44 PM

Divestment in this sector is of utmost importance, a PPP model is best suited for the airline cos the services enhancement is best provided by the private sector and the infrastructure which is already present can by used by govt to make the airlines a competitive one.
hence the customers as well as the govt will gain.

Even indian railways should be privatised
by Dinesh on May 09, 2011 07:57 PM  | Hide replies

See the services of Indialn railways, all the sectors are full in 3 months advance. Tatkal is full immediately at 0800 o'clock. All the general compartments are nothing less than cow sheds. How a gentle person can travel in case of emergency? Capital goods like coal, cement, steel etc. are waiting days together for transportation. All the tracks are congested. Every year new trains are introduced but no tracks.
If this sector is privatised, all these problems can be solved with better services.

Railways are to an extent well managed. But yes, the introduction of a private sector player can infuse better service like clean and hygienic coaches, better people management etc..

So yes a Private public partnership wud be ideal

Every day British airways fly from Bangalore to USA . Bangalore is IT hub and most of the tech fly from Bangalore. it is surprising Air India does not fly from Bangalore. air india surrenders all the high volume routes to foreign airlines and if they fly they are pricing the tickets high so that all the passengers prefer their competitors . i am really not able to understand their logic.
British airways ,lufthansa emirates fly every day from Bangalore but not AIR INDIA. There is not a single flight of AIR India

whats new in this? no surprise at all? GOI AI gifted so many profitable routes to private & international airlines. For example, MAA-BKK gifted to Thai Air, MAA-HKG gifted to Cathaypacific, MAA-FRT gifted to Lufthansa, MAA-LHR gifted to British airways, most for the gulf routes to other airlines. Still cannot understand why heavy traffic sectors are NOT being used by AI IA ? Bottom line is, nobody ( from the bottom level employee to the top Aviation Minister ) cares about AI IA and no accountability and these are the main reasons why both AI IA are incurring heavy losses. We have only one option to stop further losses. Just ground down all the flights on a stipulated date (say June 1), dont accept any more bookings beyond May 30, stop all the flyings starting from June 1, keep up only the needed minimum workforce, work out all the outstandings, sell all the aircrafts, settle the payments to all including employee, if there is still any debts, let the GOI sell out all other properties of these two airlines, FINISH OFF THE CHAPTER OF AI IA. This is the only way to avoid further losses & problems. Dont think about the employees of AI AI as they are the main culprits for this situation and so let them pay penalty by losing their job, no mercy at all.

Outright Sale of Bilateral rights
by Abbey Thomas on May 09, 2011 07:56 PM

Please note since 2001 Indian civil aviation Ministry allowed foreign carriers to operate to India while Indian carriers were not having equipment, capacity and capability to meet the competition such increase in capacity posed by the foreign carriers. Specific examples are increase in capacity given to Singapore airlines, Cathay Pacific airways without giving equal rights to Indian carriers to operate to Hong Kong/China and Singapore. Though equal capacity was permitted under bilateral agreements, it was known fact that permission to operate by Indian carriers were not given or Indian carriers did not have the equipment to operate increased capacity and meet the competition challenge. A specific instance is increase from 8 to 56 flights per week to Cathay Pacific Airways when Indian carriers were not given the go-ahead until after foreign carriers established themselves exclusively. CBI should investigate the role of GSAs of these airlines, DGCA and civil aviation ministry. If ED check out-flow of money from 1980 they can get to know how these foreign carriers have misused/manupulated MCO facilities.
