Air India strike: HC pulls up management, pilots
by Hebbar R on May 03, 2011 03:38 PM

The Pilots should have been hauled up by the Court. They have no business antagonizing the passengers. If they feel that their pay is insufficient or if they have any other grievance, they are free to leave the job and look for better prospects.

Ploy of Govt to favour Pvt Airlines
by venkatachalam govind on May 03, 2011 03:31 PM  | Hide replies

The Management is adamant coz the Ministry wants to favour the Pvt Airlines. What is wrong in Pilots asking for more salary. Afterall they carry top businessmen and beauracrats who are insured heavily. Moreover if MPs and MLAs can ask more salary why not Pilots.

Sure you are right. AT the same time it is also possible that the pilots are striking just to help the Pvt Airlines. After all when there is disruption of AI services, the passengers will simply go to Pvt Airlines.

Where is the relevance of carrying top businessmen? As far as Air India not asking for any dole from the Govt. i.e. tax payers money, they can give and take whatever they want. Dissolve it if public money is going to be paid for fattening their asses. As an AI employee, you have to see the financial condition of your co. before asking any thing.

Why HC intervention?
by partha sharma on May 03, 2011 03:30 PM  | Hide replies

If at all there is mismanagement in AirIndia, let it get closed down - let it have its natural death.

There are several public sector units such as Cement Corp., Fertilizer Corp., etc., closed down due to mismanagement - where there was no HC or SC intervention was there.

Why in case of AirIndia there is HC intervention??

U said it right. The courts should come down heavily on the Management and Minsitry. I dont understand why it is otherwise. On the one hand Govt wanted to impose ESMA but it has faild to restrict the Pvt Airlines to charge normal fare for tickets. What a mockery of democracy.

"It seems that you are also not interested in getting the strike called off," a division bench headed by Justice B D Ahmed told Lalit Bhasin.
Absolutely right, management is getting hafta from private operators.

Dr Manmohan Singh is too soft.
Mrs Sonia Gandhi has to run a party
The Cong(I)MPs has to be loyal to highcommand and are silently suffering humiliation by projecting Rahul Gandhi. He is still a young person with no vision nor the required experience

We can all enjoy similar life if we are all made PSU/government employees. All means of production can be owned by the State and all of us can enjoy good salary. Work will be optional and we can spend our time looking for bribes.

DO WE NEED AI
by M MallikarjunaRao on May 03, 2011 02:56 PM  | Hide replies

Do we really need AI? Can we shut it down and lease all the available flights so that we can have some money to settle the employees.

I worked for a charted flight firm for one year and really, we can do wonders with AI. Now that IC is merged with AI, we have very very positive growth prospects. There was no need for merger either. IC should have been given permssion to fly within the country and AI to other world destinatins which would have eased out lot of complications. We really have bunch of jokers sitting at the helms of affairs including our PM, CMD o AI, etc., All these crewks should be thrown out and we can really have good growth.

I would like to remind that many of the carriers from overseas are just minting money from India whereas we are suffering due to non performance, mis management, etc., etc.,

Hope we will come out of this nasty situation at the earliest.

Rao

We expect Air India employees to be efficient, competent, cheerful and hard-working. Do you see any evidence of that?
Do they take any pride in their work?
