Blame the Middle Class.
by Vinod on May 08, 2011 11:26 AM  | Hide replies

How much money is spent on the IPL?
How much on the cricket world cup?
And Commonwealth games?
How much does the Indian middle and lower class spend of cinema and cable TV?

Forget the rich, it is the middle class who can really help to narrow the increasing gap between rich and poor. It is too much to ask, perhaps when we stop wasting our money on paying for cable TV, cinema, etc and pay a part of that savings to the poor, it might make a big difference. All the so called celebrities and millionaires in India acquired their wealth from the middle and low class Indians. It is the public which makes billionaires. Companies/products can come crashing down if public stops its support.

Y r u in double mind. One side you are saying the middle class need to give up their source of entertainment and the other side you are saying the rich and the corrupts are fleeching the middle class. FYI, its the middle class by their spending attitude (be it cinemas, cables TVs or eating out) has brought millions of poor to the mainstreem by means of creating jobs for them in these sectors. Get your facts right before blurting out anything.

BTW, conducting CWG, IPL or World Cup...doesn't make a country or its countrymen poor. Don't understimate the fact that tousands of people earn their livelyhood by being associated with these games.
ALso stop pretending that you had to shell out any penny in the conduct of these games. Tax money were spent on the CWG...but it had a purpose (taking aside some unscrupulous elements aka Kalmadi and his aide who had their tummy full) and it was worth it IMO.

How Indians can Help the Poor - !!!!!

The Write up was quite interesting...!!!!...
I do not understand - the logic behind the move to
" Restrict Managerial Pay "....!!!...
Why should the Politicians get a Salary hike every now and then..????
Why should they get all sorts of "perquisites "
like Free Air tickets, Free Rail Tickets, Free
Phone Calls, Free Attenders, Free Secretarial
Services, Free Homes etc etc..??????
Pay them an ALL INCLUSIVE SALARY and make a provision for these "expense heads"...and DEDUCT INCOME TAX....!!!...
All these Politicians - the MLAs or MPs are even otherwise NOT DOING ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVE
other than " OBSTRUCT " the Parliamentary proceedings....!!!!....
AND THEN - LET US TALK ABOUT RESTRICTING
MANAGERIAL PAY.....!!!!....

restrict family size
by kishore tendolkar on May 02, 2011 04:38 PM  | Hide replies

there should not be any second thought on helping the poors, the poors should also contribute in building our nation by restricting family size. What generally obsered in india that rich couples / families are having one / two children whereas poors have more than 3 / 4 children ; this really puts more burden on nation.

not only children, they are lazy to work and want to earn quick money and the money earned are spent overnight and the next day, they are back to square one. They totally hijack the country and its economy from their caste and religious background and are confident about their need by politicians and can bargain in return.
A family living in slum get free water, electricity, ration, gas, etc. and to your amazement, you can see the latest gadgets in their home which even an IT professional would have thought for a moment before purchase. The latest bikes, and in some home, you can see small sized cars of leading companies, are available in all slums and flat screen TVs and every home has a DTH connection.

They do not have time to go to school/college to study but have ample time to see movies regularly, visit bars and spend time in Big Malls. They have no money to pay children school fee but have plenty for drinks and smoking.

Until the politicians and government stop offering freebees to keep their seats intact, these scoundrels will ever pretend to remain poor.

Help the real needy but not pretending to be poor.

RICH INDIANS HELPING POOR
by v vv on May 02, 2011 04:24 PM

The society needs low cost hospitals, low cost schools, start-up employment at a reasonable salary, etc. Each business group should contribute to the society by constructing a school/hospital every year, so that there will be more facilities available. In addition, it is the individual's social responsibility to look after their school / area of living, such as, the Alumnis of schools should meet every year and contribute for the development of schools / adding class rooms / increase facilities in the school, develop the school in opening branches etc. Similarly, every area should develop welfare associations, and the members should organise Free Health Check-up facilities by their area Doctors / and it is very easy to get contributions and sponsorships. Unfortunately, our politicians are not taking any initiative in developing such services, and I would prefer to work for the society whoever is interested in starting something.

better way to help poor
by deepak rajpoot on May 02, 2011 04:22 PM

No doubt if our rich community will think bit to help poor and inprove the village infra, it is qiut possible. India has 6lacs villages and if big industries takes to 25 villages every year on their development and mid size industries 10 villages and small industries 5 villages than within 2 5years plan our villager living standard will change. They should not do it through NGO of Government because both having a group of corrupt people. They should take it as target as they are putting to achieve for growth of industries.
