Anybody flown Air India CHN-BENGALURU?
by Vijay Natrajan on Apr 03, 2011 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

Indigo flight Chennai-Bengaluru costs Rs.1750, You get a swanky new Airbus A320, 20-something, super efficient and courteous, Indigo clad Hostesses. Flight takes 30 mins.

Why does Air India flight on the same route cost Rs.3800 (direct)?

And could someone enlighten on the experience because i have never flown Air India. It will be very entertaining to read!!

It is a greatest tragedy that the GOI run AI has had nothing but troubles and it is no wonder that the "service" prices and schdulig, airport support systems et al, have been way below par. To such an extent, you get the feeling that you are not an honored client or passenger with dollars and euros to spend. Try any flight on Air India, and you will hear only groans and sighs, complaints and negative commnenst these days. No womder there ratings have been falling and there is little being done to improve the morale or service standards. It is time to makr the company totally in private secotr, and gtake away ANY Government hand outs. Time to grow up and face the Competition. The days of the Maharajah are truly over.

Dear sir

Air India is bleeding $200m per quarter. It should be privatised. Why taxpayers have to bear the burden?

Direct Flight MUMBAI-Paris-Mumbai
by Swaran Singh on Mar 29, 2011 10:50 PM  | Hide replies

Why there is no flight from Mumbai to Paris ?
The reason is that AI officials take bribes to
leave lucrative routes for AIR FRANCE, KLM, Delta etc. The business of selling INDIA's national interest for personal gains is in full swaing. SW

AI needs to be privatised

Have you noticed the fact, that most of the Indians fly other than, AI, for the simples reason for their poor service and incredibility. Unless AI is privatised and dismantled , nothing can happen

I actually tried to fly Air India in spite of some bad experiences. However, they have a very limited choice and I have to make several connections to use this airline. I eventually switched to other airlines that offered one stop flights to India from Washington DC. It is ironic that Lufthansa, BA, Qatar, United, Emirates, etc have better connections to India than Air India itself.

If Air India got their act together, expanded their connections and improved their service (even marginally), I would fly them again. Until then, syanora Air India!

Even GOD may not know which minister has received bribes from these airlines in return for not having AI flights. Something will transpire as in our country pilots without license also fly. Any way what happened to all the fake pilots?

Sad to see the state of affairs of our national carrier AI. I feel it has to be made private to exist in the competitive market. The way it is now-- had travelled one time London-Mumbai non-stop but it was one of the worst flying experiences I have ever had. Our own fellow Indian officials in Heathrow airport were so disgusting and unwilling to help. The moment I landed in Mumbai I swore I will never fly Air India again.

Many successful airlines are state-owned or majority owned by the state. Examples are Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, The real question, is how to make the indolent staff of Air India work?

I agree. The staff is well paid but simply do not want to work. Secondly, in most countries they do not keep oldies employed in the crew staff so that they can move fast. Here it is full of aged people who walk unwillingly.

U are absolutely right. Politicians have milked AI.... badly........ and the Employees are suffering like anything..... They are not getting paid on time..........Salaries are not regular........................ and all important routes are sold off to the private airlines.....eventhough AI reservations are full.....Flights are cancelled intentionally to benefit the private airlines....just bcoz of these Politicians..............poor employees are at lost...................................on top of that these politicians are recruiting their relatives internally on vacancies......eventhough they are not qualified.................

yes sir, your observation is correct, though it is not one and only, i have forgotten to add this factor also,(see the case of nationalised banks, there employees have changed their mindset to compete with the new-gen banks, they are more or less successful!!)

British Airways and Emirates are flying full house to London
by Vijay Natrajan on Mar 29, 2011 06:42 PM  | Hide replies

British Airways, Emirates, Quatar, Jet Airways, Singapore Airlines are flying full-house to London from all metros in India.

What is stopping Air India from flying on these routes.

my best guess is that Air India babus are on bribe roll from Pvt. Airlines to do some sabotage to Air India.

Same is happenning to every PSU like BSNL etc.

It is better to make Air India a Public Limited and bring in professional management.

It's writing on the wall - there is huge money on international routes - What is stopping Air India from flying when they have the biggest fleet of costliest planes??

Money eating babus ofcourse.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

By "babus" I think you mean the management of Air India. Well, Air India has a bunch of indolent employees from top to bottom. Mr Praful Patel may or may not have been corrupt, but in his tenure, Air India has a large fleet of modern aircraft. Why don't the employees get on with their jobs? Why don't they smile? Why don't they answer the phone? Why don't they run the flights safely and on time?

Because they eat too many Indian mangoes and sweets which makes then lazy and sleepy all the time. Because they have paid bribes to get into their jobs and because they are dinosaurs from babudom days.

Privatize Air India, so that people like u and me can buy its shares and demand that it delivers!
