For people who don't know , Ratanji graduated from Cornell and also he is currently in Board of Trustees. He is trying hard to market or at least people to know that India has a manufacturing capability...But I am sure there won't be "WOW" .
I would like to see it passing the crash test (at least to British crash testing specification). I would like to see a Ministry of Transports test certificate (British)for it. Before I part with my hard earned cash.

Yes too late. Now foreign US/Japan/Germany) auto companies are already looking at Electric and Hydrogen cars. This is not very impressive really.
he thought people will run like crazy to buy his car, even he couldn't even kept the promise of lactakia car and all, all happened to be a big bvllsheet, tata is now seeing its downfall, ratan had no vision which he proved, indian masses expected something worthful from tata but not this one.
Re: ratan tata failed miserably in this one, do india need nano?
by kapil on Mar 22, 2011 05:12 PM
exactly... but poor Ratan forgot who designed Nano and same people designed Indica... he he he..
and also he created an image that he is Gandhian...
50000 sq. miles of land using for Tata tea in Kerala did not pay a single penny till today...

TATA ka 'OK' dhulai ka sabun is much better than nano, atleast its still worth to buy.
1. Tata motors has more products on diesel platform. They should have Kept Nano also in the same line. 2. The hype about pricing was misleading. Promise only what you can keep 3. The engineering is lean but one would have been bowled over by a 23 litre diesel mileage rather than petrol 4. There is no innovation in supply chain as well as manufacturing.
Nano is pretty remarkable for what it has not done: 1. has not set the sales charts on fire. 2. has not created a new segment of customers (ie 2 wheeler upgraders). 3. has not broken new ground in fuel efficiency 4. has not been able to address markets beyond south asia.
winning awards and accolades is not successful innovation. You have to win customers in a reasonably profitable manner. So far, Nano has not been able to demonstrate enough of the latter.

There is no benchmark to compare Nano as it is first in a class which has got created by its introduction. A comparison with any other vehicle dos'nt hold.

Hey you, Toilet paper Singh (used by pakistani), you people cant do anything good yourself but can find mistakes/lackings in every other thing
For Americans everything they fancy is a case study be it Nano or Mumbai's 'Dabbawallahs'. We shouldn't get carried away with these things. Rememeber Lalu Prasad was lecturing at Harward how he turned around Railway to a huge profit centre. What is the situation of Railway now?

For inexperienced, what is cheap cannot be good. Nano is a value for money product, and is a masterpiece. When gear less scooter- Kinetic was first introduced there was fear among buyers, until it finally removed geared scooters completely from market. Wait for a stampede to happen for Nano . Remember Nano is economy class vehicle .

Ya.. they do that and learn to become better. We should learn to learn from them, rather than mocking them..

Go ahead and buy it.. who is stopping ? Its your money and you can decide where you want to spend .There are more than 100 models of vehicles 2,3,4 wheelers in india and everyone has the full freedom and choice to buy and ride whatever he wants as long as the road transport authority permits it ...I still drive my old Jeep when car is in service or used for family purpose.. No one has ever stopped and told me not to ride a jeep to office .. some people will give a strange looks but they r not paying for the diesel so I dont care
