Another scrap from rediff
by milind kulkarni on May 03, 2011 11:33 AM  | Hide replies

This is another scrap from rediff... Hongkong is no longer a separate country... its part of china.
Secondly India will always remain poor in terms of per capita since our denominator is always very high...

India will be catagorized as low high icome country. do not talk fooloshly by suing word like denominatro! What is your numerator and denominatro man for 2050. You are taling based on your weak and pessimistic brain and the report is not created by rediff, it is the forcast by other recognaized organization and not by mentals imagination ( as that of you)

'Emerging Markets' and 'BRIC' -- by global financial giant Ci

(1) An extrapolatin of 'affluence of the citizens of India as on 2050' based on per capita income of the past period is highly questionable. There are so many complex and difficult parameters to consider. Corruption, scam, fast errosion of ethical value besides natural calamities and inefficiency in governance will make an extrpolation beyond 5 years not tenable.
(2)Study should confine to a step of 5 years only and must consider HDI (Human Development Index) than age old GDP & per capita income besides distribution of wealth amongst citizens of a country as a measure of standard of living.
(3)A good percentage of the MPs & MLAs are corrupt, as reported by various articles earlier. As per CAG, the MPs are not in a position to utilise 25% of the sanctioned fund in the MPLAD Scheme and that proper procedure is not followed to utilise the funds.
(4)As per CAG,committed external assistance of Rs.1,05,339 crore remain unutilized by goverment of India and that Rs86.11 crore has been paid by the government during 2009-10 in the form of penalty for not utilizing the aid approved. The reason as reported by CAG is primarily due to inadequate planning by various ministries.
(5)In the export front of onion, the government of India has reduced price (per tonne) from $600 -> $450 -> 350 in a span of 40/45 days signifyng lack of proper market research and coordination in various government departments.
In view of the above the report of

Pt(3)extended: FM should not have increased the MPLAD fund for each MP from Rs2 crore to Rs5 crore.
In view of the above Citi's report
bears little credibility.

if only India contains Population explosion
by Shaman on Mar 20, 2011 02:26 PM

All the growth and per Capita income will be down the drain unless the uncontrolled explosion of population growth is contained at the earliest. Family Planning should be imposed even for M*slims if India wants to be really rich, else half the GDP will got for subsidizing their food and Haj Yatra.

Only a common man makes a difference in making a country USA or India.

and a common man only follows the path shown by his leaders.

When we have Lallu-Mullu-Ullu as leaders, then God knows whether we would be rich or poor.

Rupee is heavily devalued as of now to encourage exports, making Indian goods and services cost- effective. As per Purchase Power Parity (PPP) method, a Dollar currently is worth just less than 4 Rupees!. So, it depends upon the convertibility of our currency which is slowly coming into effect. Dollar may cost just about 1 rupee in 2050 going by the estimation that India will be the second largest economy by then.
