A cup of coffee costs S$1.50-S$2.00 in Singapore. That's Rs. 52-70. Not 300! Similarly, you don't get a cup of coffee for Rs. 5 in India. It's 15-20! PPP gap is wrong as you are trying to show. There's gap no doubt - but definitely much less than your "guess" numbers.

Rs 200 in USA means 4$ which is almost same. In India you get coffee for more then 8. I don't from which road side shop you have asked the price.

Caffine decreases oxygen levels in your body. Dont drink too much coffee.

Its very sad to see people comparing prices of coffee and concluding about purchasing parity of people across countries.

By the way, where do you get coffee for 5rs? your city name please..

Instead of showing books they should have shown slums of Dharavi as our face! In India only rich people become very rich in last one decade. May be the result was based on their income.

the projection is simple mathematics
by manish shah on Mar 09, 2011 10:35 AM

It seems that the projection is based on simple mathematics considering the salary growth/income growth of 11-12% per annum and after 39 years it will be more than the projected.but considering the inflation to be around 10%,the growth of india's real strength is negligible.
