When money is looted and contractors pay up to 40 percent commission in Black which was meant for development and the third class work that comes from that bribe required to do any work. We see why corruption is causing poverty first the attitude without any benefit why would a scions of British babus who made the once richest of nations in the world to that the most poorest and malnutrition country of the world work. See the selfishness that they never think of country.

So for example we don't spend money on irrigation schemes which is most needed in the country. For example Punjab with the least BPL of around 6 percent is because it is 99% reached it irrigation potential and has yields far greater then place where the soil is more fertile, because of irrigation schemes. So we look at poverty of UP and MP, Rajastan, Bengal and bihar, Orrisa, and many other states have figures of reaching 40% of irrigation potential and poverty rate of of upto over 40%. We such selfness for lack of development and destructive quality that value overly money as starving person is quite willing to do as the Babus pleases and so thinks not of land and nature and welfare but how to procure the dirty money that government prints which wants you to beg and be a good slave. What is wrong with peopl being prosperous does not economy not grow and they buy more goods. What is wrong with independence and self-sufficiency but our government likes slaves.

I have seen a typical mentality in Congress supporters, they are equally corrupt; "albeit mentally"

Food crisis in India due to South India and Maharashtra
by UP Guy on Jun 04, 2011 04:20 PM  | Hide replies

India Wheat Production - top five states
State       5yr* Avg. Prod %
Uttar Pradesh       34.6%
Punjab       20.7%
Haryana       11.5%
Madhya Pradesh       10.6%
Rajasthan       8.7%

See, above there is no contribution from Maharashtra or South.
And West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Orissa and Bihar are
the major rice producing states of India. Even in rice production,
contribution of Maharashtra and South is negligible.
It is the misfortune of North India that we have to sell agricultural
produce cheap to states like Maharashtra and South. If we could sell this in
international market, we could earn huge foreign exchange, and poverty in
North will be wiped out. This is pure bad luck for North India.

by lax yopr on Jun 03, 2011 07:50 AM  | Hide replies

43% of children under the age of 5 are malnourished in India, compared to 28% in sub-saharan Africa, and 7% in China.
10,000 kids die everyday of hunger, minor illness & malnourishment.

THIS IS THE ACHIEVEMENT OF OUR COUNTRY!!!!
I WONDER WHAT KIND OF GOVERNANCE IS THIS !!!!

Check the distribution of population growth in India....
by NashikMarathi on Jun 02, 2011 10:16 PM

Just check it... The following states have a per couple fertility rates as follows as per NFHS (National family health survey)

AP 1.9
Punjab 2.0
Maharashtra 2.1

Combined with infant mortality these states have DECLINING local population.

India Avg 2.7

I leave it as an exercise to find the states with fertility rates exceeding 3.5

Not surprisingly these states wield the most political power in India.

More population more population growth = immense political power.

Nothing can be done about this. NOTHING.

If you say something you will be accused of not being "Indian" and you will be called "racist".... just for stating facts. Political correctness trumps common sense always.

Increase productivity!!
by Chintu on Jun 02, 2011 02:32 PM

What is basically required is increasing the productivity of farming...ie producing more on the same piece of land. With our ever increasing population and our basic Indian diet depending on foodgrains and pulses, this was a disaster waiting to happen. Moreover, nobody wants to be a farmer in India today because he /she would rather sell their farm land to builders and move to the city to work as labourers, taxi drivers, paan wala...just about anything infact to avoid the uncertainity of being a farmer.....no rains, excessive rains, too hot, too cold etc etc.
We need another green revolution, and this time not only in Punjab, but the entire country.
