EGO
by Hari KM on Jul 13, 2011 02:08 AM

There is only one problem which is the mother of all problems in Kerala......Mallus have the highest EGO, even when u add the rest of the world populations EGO put together.

People are beautiful, talented, hardworking, educated, healthy and clean..........but with a rotten mind. Due to their ego....they will work like a dog outside Kerala but have a attitude problem in Kerala.

They are also known as ' Crabs Own Country ' .... will not succeed in Kerala and will also pull other down who is trying to.

Scarcity of talent
by khemaji Bheel on Jul 11, 2011 10:20 PM

Scarcity of talent is one of the main reason for slow growth of IT/ITES sector in Kerala. There is no flow of talents from outside. Result: you cannot find a national repute educational institution or a national repute super speciality hospital in Kerala. Campus selection of IT companies in Kerala is very low. Most of the students migrate to other States for higher education & getting campus placement. This is the current situation. Any improvement on sight ?

Go to Kerala....Never
by karthi d on Jul 11, 2011 09:55 PM

Go to kerala...start a new business and you know how tough it is too handle those trade unions. They simply watch until your load/material arrive to your workshop..and while unloading/loading it they will create such an issue that your delivery will go for a spin. Intrested only in easy money...and the worst racists I ever seen.

Kerala Mentality
by Ravi Shankar on Jul 11, 2011 06:51 PM  | Hide replies

Success in any Industry in Kerala depends on Kerala Trade union mentality. Malayaless refusal to work under somebody in a private organization is the main problem. If that is corrected then there wont be a problem. Otherwise mostly Tamils and Biharis will be working in these industries in Kerala.

Non resident Keralites, and some others who are far away from current realities in Kerala often derive a ritualistic pleasure in making ill informed assumptions about trade unionism in Kerala. Trade Unions in Kerala private sector IT companies is non existent. In the past 15 years ,not one man day of work loss happened due to trade unions, strikes, bandhs in the whole of Technopark, where there are 30,000 people working in over 150 companies! Not one day of strike in 15 years in Technopark. Thats the current reality.

But what about loss of productivity due to hartals (new name for bandh), vehicle strikes and so on? Every national 'bandh' is 100 pc in Kerala where as in other states they create no impact to speak of. And even if somebody wishes to work during a hartal/bandh he will not leave home fearing bandh supporting goons.

Unfortunately this remains the current reality.

I was referring to the IT sector. Even during statewide hartals, Bandhs, it is a mutual understanding between all political parties, that the employees of Technopark can commute. The hartal day convoys for Technopark employees has not been attacked by any of the hartal sponsors till date. It is an informal understanding between all political parties here.
During Bandh's the attendance levels in offices in Technopark averages around 90%. Obviously that means nobody is having fear to leave homes to come to work.

It may be disheartening for the ill informed preachers of kerala work culture to digest the fact that not one working day was lost in Technopark in the past 15 years due to hartals and bandhs.

An IT employee is not going to live in technopark . He lives in the city , When he moves in he cannot carry his own luggage or have to pay the local laborers to even watch him carry his luggage.. Then to get his work done at home he hires a carpenter or driver and have to treat him like royal guest providing 3 times meals and exhobirant charges and putting up with tantrums. He hires a domestic help and the demands are more than that of a queen. Limited work, unlimited pay, notic period, you cant say anything if service is not satisfactory. Then even though office doent have strikes how do u travel to work on a day of strike ? Even private vehicles are not spared . Environment inside IT parks may be great like other cities but person also have to live there .. Fly in and Fly out is not an option :-)
