Taj mistreat and harass their staff.....they work for really long time and are paid peanuts....One of the lowest paid professionals belong to hotel industry....If they dont rescue their GUESTS they fear being thrown away when the hotel reopens...Poor Taj emploies, what options did they have but to risk their lives?

Your statement shows you never stepped out of Asia. Go to USA or UK and then you will have a different statement... Most people in India are rude, selfish, stinky. If an Indian sees another Indian in USA they will never smile at each other and they will bully each other as if they are born enemies... And FYI, I have been here since 3 years.

That's right.

But these employees and their efforts were of no importance to the media until a famous For-Rain institution decided to recognize them.

This is the state we are in. Our media needs to be "inspired" by foreigners to appreciate its own people!

What a shame!!

LINK THIS WITH TATA's $ 10 Mln DONATION TO HARVARD and read!
by Kabeer on Jan 27, 2011 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Very clever of the Tatas & Harvard.

Link this topic with Tatas recent donation of $ 10 Mln to Harvard and read this.

Harvard is reciprocation to the Tatas generosity and making a case out of Taj staffs selfless service which will act as a marketing exercise for Tatas & Taj at Harvard. All those who pass out of Harvard will remember Taj now.

The point is why the hell the staff were not cleared unless the security forces dont have the internal layout of Taj with them?

When such an operation was going on how could the staff not cleared?

What were the compulsions of the staff to risk their lives and possibly increasing the hostage number if such a thing happened?

Was customer orientation?

If it were customer orientation shall that kind of customer orientation be showcased as a model for others to emulate or from sheer common sense be condemned as as act of idiocy?

Were the staff trained to treat the terrorists also as customers?

What kind of idiocy is this?

Shall the civilised world tell Taj that the staff should save themselves first as their families are dependent on them.

People should understand the meaning of customer service in this circumstances.

Here the customer service is not rendered by the staff as the Tatas and Harvard cleverly projecting to the world.

Here the customer service is provided by the security agencies.

When this happened, the hostages became the customers of NSG. Taj&customer

i agree that we are miles away from the truth that happened on 26/11 - for some reason I m not convinced by boat and attacked Mumbai

The biggest benefiary post attacks has been the Taj hotel, and as in every case the role of the biggest beneficiary must be probed

Taj Selfless Service a Case Study.
by sam bobby on Jan 27, 2011 06:49 PM  | Hide replies

The birth of an idea happens with a possibility of gain or loss. Not much time has passed since the Tata's donation to Harvard. An indian professor appointed to express gratitude with a case dedicated to show case human morale.
Bsck to question how did the hotel staff deliver so well, he reason being lack of options and the shock factor. Such reactions are not thought or taught and happens in the spurr of the moment. A crisis situation propels a person to deliver superhuman reactions, it is a situation that can be said to be, being forced out of the comfort zone. What else could have the staff done at that time, the hotel was in seizure they could not move out, the guests will be given the first priority as their life is more expensive compared to the staff. Lack of options in a panic situation forced them to deliver their services, Harvard in its old habit of making a mountain out of an anthill has made a case. The staff experienced a momentary enlightment on the ephemeral nature of life, it was spiritual sustenance that was potrayed but such a morale cannot be expected in everyday situations of business. We can expect similar employee behavior in life and death situations and would be tought to pattern match similar employee moral in day to day business operations.

when u tell some thing about spirituality, i tell u some thing these of the sachtha karam, these karama's where hidden deep with in the soul.. it delivers when the situation arrives. u have to read the full case study.." even though the taj staffs know the back doors of hotel, they never ran away and hotel is not sized " so they the had a option too..

the low level employees are used to serve the customer with gentle and humble nature, "BY doing this regularly it becomes a character" when situation demanded it came out as behavior with sanchita karma in it.. ur righ in one thing that all time will they so this behavior or wat? .. probably they may or may not.. so the " inherit karma's(qualities)
and nature of job" which made them to
show this type character's in situations"
..

To all, Kabeer has answered your questions.
We are trying to have a perspective, what you all said is a common perspective, but the point is what led the Taj employees to be martyrs and in future should such acts be expected from the employees. There is no point in deliberation, to loose life, had the situation been handled with a better strategy, no life would have been lost.

The next time you crawl into your tiny apartment and try to impugn a stranger's character with your witless remarks, remember, you have been raised to be a tool, and you continue to act like a tool. :)

As dumb as you believe I am, I assure you, I would run intellectual circles around you. You approach me not unlike a court jester approaching a king.

I agree with Unni. Sunit, your comments are so cold and in bad taste. Sure enough you are not a person to be counted upon in crisis situation. At least have some respect for those who did. You are disgusting.

Sam buddy! I feel that reaction of the employees is not just because of lack of options in a panic situation but also because of the original nature of people working there. See .......... each of them could have worked on his/her own rescue but they did not do that. They all worked as a team and tried to figure out and also to a great extent figured out way out of a crisis. Please dont belittle the brave efforts of our people. And please make no mistake of me being compassionate to our fellow Indians. I have a sense of extreme harsh but positive criticism and I take a dig at all the failures of India, while I cherish this moment of Taj Staff's bravery and great ethics. And Harvard making a mountain of an anthill is very harsh from you. Its the TOP University of the world for god's sake ..........
