Audi existed before Auto union. Auto Union, as the name suggests was an amalgamation of 4 firms, Audi, Horsch (Audi split from Horsch), DKW, and Wanderer. The logo of Auto Union was 4 rings, one each ring representing each of the aforementioned company. Before that, Audi's emblem was just it's lettering (same font as used today). This information is so easy to fact-check, so it's disappointing that Rediff editors can't even do that properly.
Auto Union, as a result of another merger and take over by Volkwagen became Audi, as correctly stated.
