Very good, the root cause of the perennial rise is the ever growing bulge of taxes and duties which makes our price rise among the highest in the world.

Why does not the Govts at the Centre and the States do away with all taxes and duties? Is it scared that it cannot earn money illegally? What abt the numerous lootings by rogues from CWG to 2G? Will the Govt do something to bring back all those loots and fund its so called programmes which more often than not land up benefiting the looters themselves

Fuel Prices
by Hebbar R on Jan 20, 2011 08:06 PM  | Hide replies

The Govt justifies increase in price of petrol. They would a convincing answer even if they had not increased the prices. So, whatever the Minister says is just bull. The truth simly is that the people are paying a heavy price for electing this incompetent and corrupt Govt.

The new Minister says that there will not be a roll back in the increases. Now, whcy should there be. The elections are some distance away. If the results of the next Assembly elections in UP and WB are not good, there could be a chance of price reductions. Otherwsie one may have to wait till next LS elections.

All Govts are one and the same. Whether its BJP led or Congress led, the situation is the same. Look at Karnataka, despite having a BJP Govt petrol prices there are among the highest in the country. The whole price rise of fuel in fact started with the NDA Govt way back in mid 1990s. No difference between the politicians, once they come to power they talk something else.

What soution do you expect when there is an insensitive Govt and a Govt that does not care for the opposition? Besides, why does a PM who is an "Economist of world Repute" need a solution from anyone?

by pradeep agarwal on Jan 20, 2011 06:27 PM

This govt is a bunch of hypocrites who will project themselves as pro poor but rip the nation at every given opportunity. If petrol prices are raised to protect companies from bankruptcy than what stops them from hiking diesel prices that accounts for 60% of fuel consumed? It is all vote bank politics in name of aam admi.
