There seems to be some serious flaw in the article! or am really really surprised looking at this number. Phew!!
"Of the 35 million tax payers". Only 35 million out of 1.2 billion are tax payers ?? We are supposed to have a middle class which is about 400 million strong (or even more)! Even then, 35/400 is a pitialble percentage.

It is not new.. Yes only 3.5 Mil tax payers. that is roughly 2.5% of our population... do you think our business guys pay any tax?

There are persons who could not even offer even a meagre service by the Govt. If bribes are made legal, then the babus will demand in black and in white also. They are clever in making money.
Put the maximum tax burden on people so that the loot amount can be high.
Bring back all the black money to India, so that it can all be looted too by politicians, financial institutions and even judiciary.
List all the black money of Swiss banks so that the money is repatriated from Europe to another parts of world.
God Save people from this misfortune of tax monsters or God kill people out of earth quakes and floods. Oh no...Even people don't leave that job to God, as of now they know how to break a bomb and create tsunami and earth quake. People save people...
ya a big hassle will be let off go from the people's lives. because when its salaried everything is going into the system everymonth, so i think unless untill there is any change in the people's lives, there's no point in filing returns. if there's any change during that year, they will let the employers know, and it should include in the tax pay every month, and it should be taken care off. a big headache will be gone by thins. its a good idea, but has to be implemented fast, instead of delaying it for ages.
The whole idea of collecting income tax from salaried person is absured in the absence of any social security in India. US & Europe pay high income-tax but they are benefited by better infra-structure and social security. In India both is absent so where do all these money go.

It goes to swiss bank. BTW, in US there is Social Security Tax. That is even applied to ppl who live short term. The salaried indians never get back their social security tax money back.

Our political & economic system is such that corruption breeds across verticals and it is only hard earned money earners belonging to salaried class of lower rung has to shelve out their capital on IT returns every year religiously. As per Govt. released Data, there are about 35 Million tax payers and most of them are salaried class. High class influential business class remained out of the clutches of such IT Sleuths on accout of rampant corruption. To add more pain to the scene is that most part of this mopped up fund is used by corrupt defence people whose real face have got emerged and uncovered after a slew of scams unearthed in their domain . This includes Adarsh Housing Scam. For God sake, use this fund for growth and development of infrastructure and removal of poverty but not in arms purchase for cosmetic cross border fighting. Year after year, persons in defence are enjoying privileges at the cost of genuine tax payers money.

Only reason for defence purchase is the kickback army and political ministers received from it. Otherwise nowadays looking to the present political leaders and army men they are not capable of even challenging nepal and sri lanka. They can face Pakistan only with USA backing, facing China is distant dream. All expense on defence is useless. In fact if independent referendum is carried on most people will vote for chinese or usa rule rather than being ruled by corrupt to the core congress and bjp.
