Mumbai was made finacial capital by industrialists & buisnessmen (mostly from Gujarat & Rajasthan) Now they are running away from Maharashtra (Ask why to Patil, Pawar, Thakery,Chavan gang)How long mumbai will survive on BPO, Call cener & Bollywood ?

The primary reason for Mumbai's decline is the Thuggeray-brand of Marathi chauvinism. What attracted the intelligentsia, industry and artistes to Mumbai was its cosmopolitanism and openness. With increasing intolerance, Mumbai has lost out on all these areas in the past few years.
The second most important reason is lack of infrastructure and lack of land.

Menon, what about the chauvinism of some Mallus like you? What is the development of Kerala? Why people are not attracted to your state? The reason is simple, there are many people like you who are the most narrowminded and chauvinist. But will give surmon to others when they are out of your state. About development of Mumbai , it is now already saturated and not an inch of land is left for the poor people. Was this possible if we Maharashtrians were chauvinists? Dont be hipocrite compare the position of not only Mumbai but whole of Maharashtra with the position of other states and you will find the difference. No state in India is as populated by people from other parts of India as that of Maharashtra. This has happened because of our accommodative nature but unfortunately we have no leadership to forcefully plead for us. Besides, what is the use of that development if it is going to drive away the local people and deprive them of their land. Have they no right to survive?

Come on Punekar, come out with your true name. What more development do you expect in Mumbai now. Are you aware of the present position of Mumbai. All the industry whether big or small has been shifted out Mumbai for the greed of builder's lobby. Big towers are coming up in place of huge industrial houses which were raised in 18th and 19th century for providing employment to local people. The land acquired in those days was at throw away price since the then government wanted industrial development. The industries are shifting out of Mumbai/Maharashtra not because of any unrest or the opposition from local people but only because of these industrials have now tested the blood and they want to make big money out the land they possess. Wait for some years , the same thing will happen in Ahmedabad, Benglore, Chennai, Calcutta. Try to understand the real cause. Modi is no doubt a good administrator but dont ignore the attitude of industrial houses whose only aim is to maximise their profit.

Who is resposible for shut down of Mills ? These mills were owned by Parsis & Gujaratis, I am not agaisnt local people . But Political senerio in Mumbai is pathetic. Who are the silent or open partners of Builders ? Who is purchaing lands of closed mills ? You have to have business freindly & growth oriented political backing. By just shouting Amchi Mumbai does not serve any purpose of common people. Who lost jobs when mills were shut down ?
Msg to allgreat Industrialists: All of are interested in investing in Industry. Our basic requirement is food. All are neglecting Agriculture and even agricultural land is converted in to factories. If you make nuts and bolts, we can't eat. Invest in Agriculture so that we will not die in starvation and food prices will not increase. Investment in Agriculture is more important than any other industry.

Well said dear....Hope your message will be an eye opener for many of our industrialists, who are diversyfying into sports business like the IPL. The same money could have been invested in agriculture to produce QUALITY food grains and improve the quality of life of the underprivilaged. I think the G.O.I., should bring out a new industrial policy where certain percentage of investments must be made mandatory for those who invest in industries other than agriculture. We will be very happy even if one of the major industrialists find time to atleast read our message. I once again congratulate you for the nice thought...

Investment in Agriculture/farming is very risky since many issues like pests, drought, floods etc are risky. If none of these are there, there will be bountiful crop leading to prize crash. This does not happen in Industry. Hence these big people won't invest in agri/farming
Re: Investment
by R Balasubramanian on Jan 12, 2011 01:01 PM
where is the land dear? All agricultural lands and forest lands are either de-notified or illegally occupied by our elected Scoundrels with our approval as we have selected and elected them. Infact, we are abating their act since we have elected them. Majority of indians are in to Pizzas and Mediterranean foods and Chinese Sizzlers. We long for our country food only when we go abroad. This is indian mentality. So dont worry about Agriculture. Your concern will be answered by almighty since you have real anguish on farmers and their livelihood which inturn benefits us.

See I dont' see any thing wrong with the business doing something to get licence as they does not owe anything to the nation as they are thinking in pure business sense. But it is the politicians who we elected should ensure the interest of the nation.
Every 1 comes in maharashtra and do business later on end all money @ the place where he blongs to... and Gujrat peoples are major in that always...lots of Gujus in mumbai doing business and the invest in gujarat...

you know modi is developing in industrial by converting agriculture land. one day he will feel. just becuase of industry, you cant survey. agriculture has to be their. now everybody is louding modi. but one day they will feel, what did is wrong. i am not against development of the state or nation. our generation will have no agriculture land. so what u will go for food.
