This is another "Sick" budget. On one hand there is market borrowing at Rs 20,954 crore (Rs 209.54 billion). On the other hand, they increase the senior citizen's concession & reduce the age. For the eighth year in a row there is no increase in the rail fares.

Gone are the days when the train as well as the bus journeys from Bangalore to Mysore cost the same amount. Eight years ago, the bus journey cost us 45 rupees and today it costs almost 100 Rs by an ordinary bus (up to 260 Rs by Volvo). Petrol cost 32 Rs a litre as against 64 Rs today. However, during this period the train fare has gone down by one rupee to 42 Rupees.

How long does the railway minister (s) keep appeasing the public putting the railways into great loss? If only they are sensible, they should progressively increase the fare @25% PA over the next 4-5 years till they realise the actual cost at least! Otherwise, the railways will go pauper.

This another budget which aims at destroying the railways and making it bankrupt. And the PM again watches helplessly

MORE TRAINS NEEDED AT SURAT
by Racer on Feb 25, 2011 03:48 PM  | Hide replies

It is very difficult to get ticket to BIHAR,ODISHA,CHATISHGARH from Surat. All railway employees at SURAT are involved with this racket.
It is cery difficult to get any ticket to these states well before 3 months. All tickets booked by MAFIAS through railway employees just before 89 days !!! Railway should take some urgent action on this. OR TRY to run 2/3 trains to these states every day so that AAM ADAMI will not suffer at SURAT !!!!!!!!!

People throw TRUNK into reserve compartment. It is very difficult to reach at your own reserve seat. Several people have been injured regularly. When railway will wake up ???

SURAT ticket counters has to be free from MAFIA

Not only Surat even for I am finding it difficult to get a ticket after standing in the Q from 3.00 early morning. The stupid booking clerk and the Policemen and there are middlemen involved in this racket. Now a days the Booking clerk used to say the tkt is W/L the automatically the person will not book and that tkt he will sell to others on commission. This is happening in most of the Railway Booking counters all over India. Some concerned authority must look into this racket otherwise one day all the hell will broke. I am damn sure this is a serious issue.

Thick skinned lady, her adamancy will put her own state people to shame.. because the budget is meant for entire country with sources from taxes paid by crores of people and revenue generated by Rly all over the country..

Your points are jenuine. It is better if you write to Rly.Minister to Rail Bhawan describing the facts the surat people with proper signatures of the public, you must get any response from authorities.
