And
by PO on Feb 09, 2011 11:42 AM

If I acquire 2G license for 176,000 crores, I'll collect 176,000 crores plus expenses/profit/taxes from you.
And why not auction MLA/MP/Minister/CM/PM openings in India?

TRAI unfair to BSNL/MTNL
by Raghavendra Rao on Feb 09, 2011 11:04 AM

Being a Government owned company, mr Raja has already looted the company and with additional spectrum charges being levied the PSUs will become sick and has to be sold out. The Government must set an example as all major countries do, they generate more revenues with their own companies eg: China, America and Britain. BSNL and MTNL has to be saved from bureaucracy then only Indian Telecom will progress.

TRAI's Recommendations
by Krishna Govindan on Feb 09, 2011 10:44 AM  | Hide replies

Now let all the people who cried from the rooftops realise what sensible people said - that the reason for mobile charges being so low in India was because the licence fees paid by the Companies was reasonable.
But the Congress hating crowd went to town with the help of the BJP leaders for whom any stick was good enough to beat the UPA with.
It is indeed sad that now all of us will have to pay the price for this with higher telephone charges and so on. The Government will of course laugh all the way since the bread appears buttered on both sides for it.

Dude, those who got the 2G licenses have sold them at much higher prices. Thus making a huge profit. The argument that the throwaway prices to the licensees keeps the mobile charges doesn't hold water.

I am mot bothered about what the Companies make. I am bothered about what I will have to pay. And I certainly will have to do that. Regarding selling them at higher prices - they have certainly not done that at the "presumed loss figures" being bandied about. And please be more respectful in addressing people.

Yes what we get is important not what the government will get good mr.Govindan. What others opinion is collect that 1.75lakh crores and if congress is that much interested to give that to people of india spend the money in food. Previously when supreme court ordered to distribute food which is becoming rotten in FDI gowdowns government told that it cannot distribute that food because it will loose lot of money. what greatness.

Companies like Bharti are making thousands of crores in profit.
So, they could have easily afforded the high prices and still offer low rates to public
