It is employee`s hard earned basic pay .They must decide what to do . What if a handful of bureaucrats with FM`s implied permission invest in Harshad Mehta like wise stocks .
There are various bank FDs which are giving rates of 9% for 5 years or higher periods... so why does the trust want to take the risk of investing in stocks?
The main issue with EPFO is not whether money should be put in stocks or government securites but scientific valuation of the existing corpus by actuaries and working out the surpls or deficit in the corpus . The last acturial valuation report has revealed a huge deficit and the report is buried deep in the mantle of the earth. When the people who are contributing to this scheme come to know the truth, they will be shocked to dea..This is going to explode in the future and will be grandmother of all scams and mismanagement. Many of the present day contributors are going to get 10000 volt shock when they grow old and retire. The pension crisis that we saw in France a few months ago will explode in the face of Indians a couple of decades from now.
