Because of Praful Patel
by Arjun on Feb 07, 2011 12:01 PM  | Hide replies

It is all because of Praful Patel. He is corrupt number 1 and is in cahoots with Jet Airways. This UPA government is full of swindlers. Very unfortunate.

Air India
1. Over-staffed since long time
2. Poor work culture, no dedication to providing good service
3. Over-pampered staff.
4. Management without vision

All this has been existing long before Praful patel became the Civil Aviation Minister. AI has enjoyed monopoly for years before private airlines made entry but failed to establish itself as an efficient service oriented airlines. You can't blame Patel alone for the airlines plight today!

Air India

In the recent financial results, Jet Airways made good profit. How Air India can go into loss because of mismanagement. There is no support from Govt. Govt want private airline to make profit. Rathan than reducing benefit of its employees, it should cut free travel of Ministers and sr government staff. Cut loss making routes. If the seat is available, give it in reduced rates.

Lynch Praful Patel

First get Praful Patel off the civila aviation ministry. how is the airline supposed to make money when he gives all routes to Jet and Emirates? He has a huge stake in Jet plus his daughter is married off to the son of the owner. Why punish the staff of Air India? Raid his bank accounts and ask him why he has such a big stake in Jet!

Air India is a useless airline with staff which has been overpamered for years. There was a long long period when Air India had monopoly for overseas flight, long before the arrival of private airlines but did nothing to upgrade itself or to make their operations efficient. Air India staff deserves to be spat upon. Don't blame Praful Patel for their plight!

He is already out of civil aviation ministry. He is now Heavy Industries minster and already had suggested that AI should either be declared sick or go for IPO.

Shut down Air India
by roshan sharma on Feb 07, 2011 11:49 AM  | Hide replies

Air India is the burden on Indian tax payers. Recently I flewed three times by Air India after a long break of vowing never to travel in my life by such a degraded airlines. But I found the very poor condition of aircraft, its turbulant functioning during travel, rude behaviour of its air hostess ugly looking fat ladies assume as if they are on top of the world. They feel ashamed of serving the customers and give a rude and arrogant response. Similar mismanagement is at Delhi airport also. The Govt must shut down this white elephant which is wasting the country's money and is a big blot on the country's image.

good thinking by the government

The Air India staff had a good time at the cost of exchequer. They hardly worked and were always on a trip abroad with their families, inspite of heavy losses incured by Air India. In fact they should reduce the staff and save the taxpayers money.

When unwanted staff will be reduced is the only answer to bring AI at par, all such methods may give some relief but not bring out it into green from red.Govt. is weak and not having killing instict to do such action as nothing goes from politicians pocket.

Air India to freeze pay and promotions
by Rajesh pillai on Feb 07, 2011 11:35 AM  | Hide replies

Thats a good move to freeze the pay and promotions, in fact, considering the quality of service they provide to the passengers, they dont deserve even 25% of what they are paid now.
It has become just another government office, where they are keen only to collect the salaries.
As a frequent traveler, Air India/Indian Air Lines is my last choice - a final surrender when no other airline is available.
AI should send their log face&head crew back to hospitality training centres.
