Dropping Women Home a Problem, WHAT A JOKE !
by Nalin Kishore on Feb 05, 2011 05:14 PM

It is shocking to see BPOs and NASSCOM trying to wriggle out of such an important matter. SHAME on them. FIRSTLY - There is absolutely NO NEED to give the woman employee's phone to drivers or guards. On reaching the women employee's house the guard/driver must ring up the call centre in charge and confirm that she has been dropped home. At the same time the woman employee should also speak to the call centre in charge that she is safely home. Is this a difficult thing ? Mr SOM Mittal better wake up. SECONDLY - BPOs want definition of NIGHT SHIFT, what a joke ? In case of any doubt use sunset / sunrise timings issued by met deptt, or use GOOGLE, Mr SOM Mittal. You will understand night shift timings in one second !! THIRDLY - There is NO NEED for GPS. Sinced drivers and guards are travelling in the vehicle they should be asked to report their location periodically - WHAT GPS Mr SOM Mittal ? If they do not report location throw them out the next day. FOURTHLY - The Police is doing a good job in this case, these instructions should not be diluted, otherwise it will lead to repeat cases of rape, molestation and murder. If the Bottomline of BPOs gets affected by following these security instructions SO BE IT. Recover the cost from the clients ! FIFTHLY - If BPOs cannot provide security to employees from areas which have no motorable roads, better NOT recruit them on false pretexts of good life in a BPO. Pick your employees from places which have motorable roads - what an excus

Dealing with Adults
by Poison Ivy on Feb 04, 2011 02:36 PM

Most BPO and call centre employees are young adults. If you expect the companies to take care of them then their families also must play a role. It is unfair to make the employer solely responsible for the safety of women employees. All are adults and they all have to manage their lives. Delhi police must improve their services rather than being incapable at all times. The crime rates in delhi are alarming and it is high time delhi police put their act together.
