i smoked for about 8 years, avg 15 cigarette per day. Tried many times but just couldn't quit. One day I just analyzed the amount money I am spending unnecessarily and I set a date 2nd Oct 2009 and month before. Did not touch Cigarette after 2nd October 2009. Quitting is hell, but you get greater rewards. Just after I quit for about 2 weeks I was sick with cough and running nose but after 30 days nicotine cravings reduced significantly. Even today I get nicotine cravings specially after meals but now it is easy to control. Non of the substitute help, if you are hooked on to nicotine there is a great chance that you would resort to cigarette if others (patches. gum etc) are not available.
Good Luck.
