FDI in food processing will save wastage of veg and fruits Not FDI in retail....none of the
MNC retail giants set up food procesing ...fools who do not understand it are going to make things worse for the country...and retaiol giants sqeeze everyone ...farmers, suppliers ...and after destroing the retailors ...then they jack up prices to loot the consumers just like pepsi and coke did.

There has been impressive growth in retail and wholesale trade after China approved 100% FDI in retail. Thailand has experienced tremendous growth in the agro-processing industry. In Indonesia, even after several years of emergence of supermarkets, 90% of fresh food and 70% of all food is still controlled by traditional retailers. In any case, organized retail through Indian corporates is permissible. Experience of the last decade shows small retailers have flourished in harmony with large outlets.

I do not know why congress party especially, the power center
speak as a passing remark on FDI in retail. The congress should take a bold stand, that the farmers will be the beneficiary, but have no voice as they are scattered and not united like traders, who are just miniscule in comparison to the farmers .There is no doubt that the country will benefit but the people here talk about the East India company days.To take along the people we are unable to benefit from the technology. This is not new and the same we have been facing since the time of opening of the economy.

Your UPA has already put the Retail in FDI in the cold storage. If you need to convince someone, go and talk to Mamata. And good luck with that.. You might endup getting a hard slap from her.

It is OK. He is still learning. Give him credit for taking a stand for the first time. Next time, I hope he takes a stand earlier. After all, he will become PM.
