Architectural marvels!!!
by SK B on Dec 11, 2011 10:30 AM

Gosh, are these considered architectural marvels!!! Is it some sort of irony? Most of these are simply 4 sided buildings that are a little tall...

Architectural marvels or skyscrappers?
by Endangered Indian on Dec 10, 2011 07:17 PM

The title is misleading.....how can the Grand Central station, Chrysler building, Mount Rushmore, Gateway Arch at St. Louis, Brooklyn Bridge, Golden gate be missing from the list? I'm not even including the Lady Liberty as it was built by the French. This is just a list of the few towering scyscrappers of mainly Chicago and NY City....

USA has the World's largest Debt of US$ 15 trillion dollars . Yes USA is No 1 in Debt. Grow up kid. China and India are and will be No 1 and 2 by 2020 in the world. USA has 40% people below poverty line know as per US Bureau of statistics. Go and visit Shanghai one and then come and write here what is USA. USA knows only to bomb Iraq, Afghanistan nothing else. USA has no peace or harmony in their country and that is why there is happening "Occupy Wall Street" . Kid have you been to Burj Khalifa? Go there to the 160th floor and then come and write here. Till then you can play with your barbie dolls.

'US has 40% people below POVERTY LINE?'

Did you read up the same US Bureau of Statistc and check up what the US definition of poverty is? Then apply that to third world India, and you will have 98% of India under poverty line.

Read up UNDP report on world Human development. this is what it has to say: 'Over 350 million people living in eight mainly Hindi speaking states live in worse levels of poverty, illiteracy and backwardness than ALL the people living in Sub saharan Africa'.

This is Govt Of India's report on human development in states of India, released 6 weeks ago: 'Over 75% of homes in north India do NOT HAVE A TOILET'.

And India will overtake USA in 8 years?

You guys need to learn how to read stuff that India sites pump day and night.

That news about India overtaking US is about the 'GDP' of India is projected to be more than that of the US by 2060.

What that means is India's population would grow so high in that period that even if we are a nation of 2 billion beggars, with each beggar having 5000 rupees per year, the sheer number of beggars would make the total amount of money for the nation huge.

Already India's GDP is larger than many developed nations, because we have so many people each barely making it alive from day to day. But do you really believe our standard of living is higher than NOrway, Sweden, Denmakr, Holland, etc etc etc?

What is this nonsense about Burj Khalifa?

USA has had skyscrapers more than a century ago.

Mr Sam,
Your name only suggests you'll like even every s**t abt US. US is a great country, no doubt but it has its own share of many problems. Every country in the world has their problems to tackle and so is India. But India is a thriving economy and promises an existing future. You probably don't live in US and so everything looks greener for your from outside the US. I live right in NY and know facts better for sure. And don't convert everything in dollars to compare the quality of life. The kind of luxury apt you can have in India in 15K, for the same you'll to have around $2000 in US. Don't compare.

Also Mr Sam,
Dare to give a shit to those crappy UNDP report. You need to come out of your Kerala and see India better. Indian states are far better than those of sub saharan africa. Visit more of India. You need to be more educated, not academic but real world education. Give a s**t to those UNDP reports .

Is it not stunning? Can you design some buildings like those above? And what about building it to reality. Its indeed an art dear. For laymans like you without much taste, these buildings will look like some ordinary things. But it takes lot of thoughts, design, planning and coordination and workmanship of Architects,Civil and MEP Engineers to have a structure like those.

You mean these skyscrapers do not also have wild life sanctuaries on their terraces.

Cmon, not every skyscraper can be as green as Indian slums.

Dude, I have beeen living in the US for decades. Indian can NEVER catch up with the emphasis the people of the US place on greenery, cleanliness and nature conservation.

This is just the photos of Buildings please read the article carefully !! If you talk about green leaf, US is very much green & also have preserved wild life.( except Southern California & Arizon which is a desert but still greener then our most of the states !!) Even if you go to NY there is a central park still preserved not like Mumbai where kids do not have playground !!forget greenery !1

We could never built anything in india..
by bihari babu on Dec 08, 2011 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

except tajmahal and few fort. we have not built anything. reason is simple. it takes huge unity and team work. to create any mega project and fulfill them. indian are too dreamy and egoic in nature. cant act like team member and focus on the outcome of the team not what you get. thats why we have not been able to build anything big. if you go to europe. you will be stunned the kind of architect and big things they have built.

bihari babu....u can find all these building in any country..no big deal...as per the indian thing is concerned...come out of patna ...u can find some buildings like this in india too. Sustaining the pressures of hostile neighbours, different cultures, age old legacy and large population is a feet in itself. Sitting in western world and poke at India is no big achievement.

true. and all build with metals; metal sheet and poles put togather with screws Like Word Trade Center. none of them may sustain 9/11 style impact.
