When you buy beauty items from Sahenaz Husain brand you don't complain. When drive a car alone for buying a milk packet you don't think how much petrol you alone wasting. Beacause you have money. Then pay for vegetable.
India can survive and grow as long as it gives more importance to agriculture as most of its rural population depends on Agriculture. Rapid industrialization may also further deepen economic imbalance in the country. Growth in agriculture will also ensure economic and social balance of our society.
In India, agricultural land is being put to industrial use, housing (due to burgeoning population) and roads etc. leaving less arable land for cultivation. This naturally pushes up prices of agricultural goods.Business houses, corporates and adhatiyas( middle men) pocket a good deal of profit in selling agro products and this pushes up agri product costs. Urbanisation is taking place very fast these days. There is too much money in the economy enabling hoarders to hide grains and push up prices. APMC and agri marketing will have to be overhauled completely for checking prices.
Simple case: If you make cars and TVs and ACs costly....people would simply stop buying.
One thing people would NEVER stop buying, is FOOD. It's all mismanagement and greediness. If food bill keeps on rising, farmers should be the happiest people.....but they are worse off.
the only reason behind high prices are middlemen and politicians.
here is a plain fact: Watermelon price in delhi are about 20-40 per KG and if you go towards mathura(less then 150KM from delhi) its only 2-5 Rs per KG.
You have seen milk men throwing milk in gutters , eggs smashed in streets , tomotoes thrown in the roads under vehichles - but aP farmers (Vegetable Growers) had a unique way to demand better price they distributed vegetables to public demanding better price .They saved lot of wastage - but poor guys do not understand the middlemen and politicians nexus in this country .The middle men make more money than the producers.
