I think it is another crap western survey specially made to believe.
I have to believe that with per capita $7500 GDP PPP only 12% people are happy in China,17% with GDP PPP per capita $3300 are happy in India and among bomb blasts and with drone attacks,32% people with GDP PPP per capita $2200 are happy and progressing in Pakistan !!!
In a country, where only 15% money spent for development reaches the end-user (the rest 85% is bled within the work-force of government machinery),this news of only 17% percent Indians thriving seems realistic. With only 15% of tax-payers hard-earned money being utilized on country's development, that too making 15 2% =17% people thriving, strikes a congratulatory note on Governmental-system efficiency. That is why politicians are failing to appreciate, why Anna Hazare and his Yonng-India clap-trap are wasting their time on corruption and graft issues. Aam aadmi just wonders!
That's why the old saying is so apt - "Ignorance is bliss". No wonder people in Pakisthan think they are thriving. So long as they don't know what thriving means, the same goes for Europeans. It's pathetic how the so called oldest modern democracy is going ga-ga over the royal wedding. Democracy and monarchy?
The unfortunate part is the Governments of states and centre are only interested in these 17 % and not in the remaining 83%. The reason is not far to seek--Our politicians do not belong to the 83 %. They probably belong to the top 0.50% with their mostly ill-gotten wealth and loot of the exchequer.
