Absolutely agree with you.. Maharashtra has 19 airstrips. When there was a huge demand for pilots a few yrs ago many entrepreneurs approached govt for an airstrip for Flying Training Schools. The complexity sets in there. These airstrips are under Maharashtra Aviation Development Co, Maintained by MIDC, Airports Authority of India owns them. But DGCA sets rules and conditions. Not a single airstrip was made available!! The cost of maintaining these airstrips are humongous with almost no revenue source... You are right it can be used for Disaster relief..Also which airlines have planned Air taxi btn say a Kolhapur and a Vijaywada or a Satara and Amravati..? For whom are we developing these airstrips? Also...half of the airstrips in MH cannot be used now as there are tall structures in the vicinity like Doordarshan Towers, Cell Towers, Overhead Water Tanks, Chimneys of factories in close proximity of these airstrips. All unused airstrips have tree high grass grown all around.. Airstrips are infested with Dogs, Dog poops and locals who use it for relieving themselves in the morning!! I dont think money should be spent on developing airstrips...
And nothing has changed on the ground.Literally nothing. The airport allocated land looks barren.besides there is no tourism/business there.. who is going to use it ? Even locals can not afford the cost when they can travel to Blore/hyd in around 250 Rs.

When the existing Mysore airport which has been developed with huge expenses remains unused, with only one Kingfisher red flight a day to chennai, why to spend money for these air stripes? These politicians wants to find out some projects to swindle money
