by mirza abbas on Apr 12, 2011 02:37 PM

I see so many messages saying that IPL is waste fo money, no cricket, regionalism, money making gimmick, corruption etc. etc.. Why dont we all keep it simple. I like it I watch it. My wife hates it she does not watch it. We can keep it that simple. Leagues exist in every game be it, soccer, basket ball, base ball, ice hockey, rugby, etc. People who like the game follow it and people who dont ignore it. You can have your favourite teams, favourite foes etc. Thats all about it. Why are we seeing issues in every damn thing

REAL PROBLEM
by ajish mm on Apr 11, 2011 11:25 PM

the re arrangement of teams and avoiding of senior players caused the real problem.. people only know few players from all teams. after some games people will get familiar with new players and teams and IPL will take back its importance

Is IPL not like another horse race of Hassan Ali Khan ?

Are cricketers not like race horses and Mukesh Ambani not like a stud owner ?

What is your view on it ?

No doubt that entire India hails cricket! It is a pity that thouse who played for India are auctioned and purchased to play teams owned by individual owns business/corporate/ stars. Rich people used to own horses/pet dogs animals as a past time.Purchasing heros whom the entire India adore just reminds centuaries back slave auctions! Thouse who got sold in this money trade sould realise their real values in society and avoid IPL.

IPL is not cricket
by shashwat mishra on Apr 10, 2011 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

IPL adds nothing to cricket.

It is an attempt to whip up regionalistic sentiments ( chennai vs delhi or mumbai vs banagalore) and in the process make tons of money for some really really rich people.

And who exactly are we meant to cheer? For instance, can you force people of Chennai to support Sehwag or Yuvraj or Tendulkar? Are not all three heroes for thousands of fans?

The fake and manufactured enthusiasm surrounding the IPL is easy to see. Cricket fans can wait for the India-England series to enjoy some competitive matches again.

Your logic is flawed

It does not whip up regional feelings it binds them why ???
Chennai or Delhi or Bangalore have all sorts of people

There are sikhs in automiobile business in Chennai
likewise Tamils in Mumbai

Having a city like feel and sports fan does not dent anything

IPL is a dessert and Indian cricket team is main lunch for all Indians

That is why whole India celebrated when it won world cup

Having local heros and national heros can co exist

it depends on peoples response I do not think fake and manufactured enthusiasm at all for four seasons - Fake will survive once or twice it will not survive four editions at all
==================================

IPL is a league do not confuse league cricket with National Team cricket and confuse others
==============================
Regionalism is wronlgly exploited by politicians so if you want to root out such regionalism then take a stand against a politician who provokes such feelings and make sure they do not have any future and divide people

IPL is a curse to be ignored.Waste of money and time. Giving tom much importance to cricket will spoil the economy if India Not for prosper but for disaster. Government and people should be alert. Waste of circulation of moneywithout any gain or growth. Beware and avoid IPL without giving importance.

Those who do not have food and water ,shelter - will need those

Those who do have a job and food ,water ,shelter do need entertrainment

so it is a matter of balance I guess

As indian economy grows ,you just cannot force our young indians to just do meditation or yoga and keep quiete ,they need activities like sports either they have to play or watch them with family

to play then you need facilities for 1.2 billion people,that is why Movies played a major part before
But now middle class india needs activities - yes Golf courses ( a few rich still not accessible to many )
so waht is the answer ?
Theme parks - again space contsraints and poor urban planning

only other option is make use of aviation sector in india and get away to kulu manali or some resort ?again deals and it depends on availability

so warm summer days and people like to come out in evening to let some steam out

so if not IPL suggest some thing else and let us see its merits and accessibility

Colonies liberated from British rulers alone gives importance to cricket. Watching the game is no doubt an entertainment.India gives too much importance to cricket .The war is now between ICC and IPL. Pep or cola is another. Giving too much importance to cricket and spening on it both time ,money is the right of individuals who loves cricket. Our young kids start playing cricket in streets use the tennis balls available with a bat/stick and enjoy spending time.Infact there is no facility to them to play real cricket. India is not able to get any medal in Olympic because there is no encouragement to the games recognised.

But,don't you think that IPL is the gate way to convert tax payers' money earned thru scams from black to white by Sharad Pawar and ilk? What is your take on this?

Can we keep our eyes closed because some people are getting entertained from this match fixing,scam gateway?

Is IPL not like another horse race of Hassan Ali Khan where cricketers are like horses and Mukesh Ambani is like a stud ?

Some owners like Shilpa are running or donating some part of money for Charity
Nita Ambani is running schools and supports NGO foundatiin in Mumbai

I hope Preity will also do something good (she is a good women ) when time comes she will ...

so let them make money ..but pay taxes and be tranparent and let them create jobs
==============================================

also IPL owners invest some money into Rural India to create fast bowlers
help to create some fast pitches(bouncy) like aust or english so our batsmen will learn hook and pull shots
------------------------------------------
so make money but some good things to indian sports ,pay taces etc

BCCI ,cricketers ,IPl OWNERS should sit together when Indian cricket team is busy in a claendar year (that means they are touring a country ,or playing at home ) involving more than one team(like Comm ban series ODI in australia) or test series
players will be tired ,indian public is also following them ,in that calendar year ,if already a lot of cricket is played IPL can either shorten its format or bid for players outside teams (fresh talent from india ) or just skip that year ? it will be better for brand value and everyone as well

Laws of Business
====================
Do not oppose it but refine it and transparent

without business ,ecomic activity does not happen and jobs will not be created

let the money rotate - Flights ,Hotels ,web site design ,merchandise etc all will help jobs
---------------------------------
Refine schedule and keep it sweet do not over do it or it will stretch too thin

keep transparency and professionalism and it is good
--------------------------------------------

Those who do not like IPL especially outsiders of india do not be jealous ,when kerry packer made World series and Benson and Hedges(Cigarrate company ) all our players from India played and we never said nasty things then so do the same now

we know some politicians are corrupt - I find some taking names - yes only one politician and less than 6 percent sahre in one franshise out of seven or eight

as for business men from India ,let us not throw stones ,all business men across the world are same ,has had interacted with Govt and got policies or taxes worked out by best accounting firms

so please do not be JEALOUS of india and success of IPL
each season of IPL has paid players from all parts of world good money
----
first edition - Andrew symoomds (Aus)
second edition - Flintoff and pieterson(Eng)
Roach - west indies
Gambhir(India)
all 5 star hotels and good facilities for players and security too with some nice owners like Preity etc

so please be appreciative of Indians

it is fair to say that INDIAN people are very innocent and love the game ,many are genuine followers with only Cricket as sport unless indians improve in Hockey and win world titles as well
===============================
Australia has ARL,AFL etc
England has EPL and others
(English Premier League)
=============================

why is anything remotely indian tagged with corruption by some people ?

can we indians not have our own professional sports league ?why not
--------------------------
I find some hypocrites from west -- indians consume Coke,pepsi buy beoing planes etc from west that is all ok

why only IPL is an issue from west ? is it not a bit of Double standard ? arm twisting india?

===============================
World Cup 2011 went with out a hitch and very smooth in indian sub continent so what is the problem and issue ?

Actual fact is --- Revenue going to indian based owners probably

in all fairness we deserve this IPL - becuase most TV viewers and stadium viewers are from INDIA TO be honest so it is our own money

we did not get it from some other country to start with

also all players get a chance to play and each season every part of worlds players are paid highest bid price ?

so what is the issue ? jealousy ? prejuidice ? what else ?
