Popularise Portable Solar-Wind Combo Generators
by Gopi Menon on Apr 11, 2011 01:22 AM

State/Central Govts should Popularise Rooftop Models of Portable Solar-Wind Combo Generators and NOC from Electricity boards should be scrapped to speed up the spread of Portable Solar-Wind Combo Generators apart from reducing the dependence on Nuclear/Thermal projects, such clean Gensets will also reduce the future scams ,since all the mega projects are scam driven .Many such gensets are in the market,if govt introduces policies on subsidies ,then they can make the citizen's independent from the clutches of Electricity Boards.

wind farms
by victor on Apr 09, 2011 09:31 AM

Will it be possible to to put a couple or more of wind powered turbines with protective guard by all our farmers where the wind speed is above 8m and achieve the indian requirement for power?
Will the banks be able to fund without colatteral?
Will this do away with nuclear energy?

mr guru, india is no match with china, but soon india(our govt led by mms) will enter into agreements worth billions of $, with usa, germany, italy etc for getting their technology & buying their equipments, which will create thousands of jobs in those countries, & loosen our foreign exchange reserve.whereas china uses & innovates its own technology, india adopts technologies of developed countries, thereby benefiting them more.

Your view is right. But at least India is lucky to get Western sophisticated technology rather than cheap Chinese technology. One Tsunami/earthquake occurs in China, thats it there will be a national shut down. India luckily depends on relaibale technology from US, Germany, UK. Also for those products that are mission critical, China is also depending on Germany.

are you suggesting that chinese spent 54.4 B$ that chinese tech still is behind US and germany?
why do you say that? did chinese beat US in High-speed rail tech? did chinese beat US in total medals of olympics?

WE HAVE LOT OF POTENTIAL RENEWABLE ENERGY
by Nirmal Ganguly on Apr 09, 2011 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

OLLOWING ARE THE POTENTAL FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY IN RURAL
1) BIOMASS GASIFICATION LIKE RICE HUSK IN BENGAL, BIHAR, PUNJAB, ANDHRA, 26000 PLANTS OF 5KW CAN BE INSTALLE
2) POTENTAL OF 10 MILLION BIOGAS ECLECTRIFY ALL VILLAGES OF INDIA
3)MANDATORY USE OF CFL TUBE SAVE 75% SAVE ENERGY
4) WIND ENERGY 20000 MW STILL CANE BE PRODUCE
5)70 MILLION ETANOL CAN BLEND WITH 20 % AUTO FUEL OF INDIA
6) SOLAR WATER HOR EATER, REFRIGERATION, SOLAR PUMP AND SOLAR ENERGY BY REFLECT CAN ADD ANOTHER 25000 MW
7) MANUFACTURE ATLEAST 10 MILLION ELECTRIC CAR
TO DO ALL THIS INDIA REQUIRE HUGE INVESTMENT FOR HUSK GASIFICATION PLANT ABOUT 25000 PLANTS REQUIRE INVESTMENT OF 15000 CR
20000 MW WIND MILLS REQUIRE INVESTMENT OF 70000 CRORE
TO MANUFACTURE 100 MILLION ETHANOL 15000 CRORE
INSTALLING 1 CRORE SOLAR WATER HEATER REQUIRE 15000 CRORE TO DO ALL THIS WE NEED IN THIS SECTOR ATLEAST 50 BILLION DOLLAR TO MAKE RENEWABLE ENERGY POWER

India is a great country, has untapped potential. We burns husk in every fild three times in a year, where three crops are grown.
We are great, in a sence can prepare thich DPR(Detailed project reports) of all types of projects.
But do we realy want to implement them, certainly not.
1. We are perfect in distributing doles just prior to election year.
2. We can sent black money to other nation to enrich them.
3. We can deliver talks on developement, but its implementation will be left for next tenure, provided you vote them. Again the same cycle.
5. We are happy in procurement of pipes etc. for transporting water but will never opt to recharge the acquifer to raise the water table, which has gone as below as 400-600ft.
We are not ready to follow the system of Gujrat where recharging has been taken up as the first priority and in the district of Kutct, they are harvesting good quality of mangos.
Will other State follow it, specialy Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Almost no Alternative fuels or Energy projects in India.
by Raj Reddy on Apr 08, 2011 11:56 PM  | Hide replies

All this talk is great.

There is absolutely no support from the government for Alternative fuels/energy projects.

Solar... lot of licenses were given out but no projects have been initiated by folks who got the license. And government doesn't do anything to force them to, since it was a competitive bids, lot of folks didn't get the licenses, the few who got are doing nothing.

Biofuels - less said better. Government set unrealistically low price on the fuel (Biodiesel), so now folks who produce Biodiesel sell it illegally across India without government intervention. So much for boosting the production!

Wind - not sure about it. I am not knowledgeable about it.

So if India needs to be in the forefront, the government needs to come up with a clear plan with actual steps instead of some nicely titled document like Alternative fuel path 2020, blah blah which does not list anything concrete.

The countries who invest in alternative energies are the countries who will lead the world in the next millenia.

Corruption is the root cause. They give spectrums and licences to anyone who has connections. Look at 2Gs it was given to non existing companies even.

We all need to do something about this.

Good for India that it is not depending on that deadly nuclear power. India doesnt have sufficient fool-proof mechanism adopted and hence dont feel sad for not having too many nuclear reactors power

By going in for solar power via steam generation using series of parabolic reflectors. This will produce clean AC electricity 100 times more efficient than solar panels.

This can be started in areas receiving heavy solar energy like Rajasthan and soon be replicated by all other states

solar radiation received by India is 100 times more than in the West and we must tap this potential rather than fall prey to the dirty nuclear lobbyists
