why??
by s mumbai on Jul 28, 2011 08:04 AM

some filthy migrants come here and criticize the local marathis and term them are stupid, etc etc... ok.. agreed... but then who called them here... when these people say that they have developed mumbai then my question is why the hell they didnt develop delhi... why people from north are willing to settle in maharashtra and gujarat...
a sub ordinate in my office told that his children are reluctant to go to their native place which is somewhere in interior u.p. because they dont feel secure and are not ready to face in society which is casteist, communal and orthodox...
so those who wish to accomodate themselves in the existing mumbai may do so without making efforts to change the existing culture of mumbai..

Mumbai is the Best

In Mumbai you can take a leak anywhere, and if required can take a dump also.No need to use toilets like other cities. In other cities u have to stand in a line for toilet, but in mumbai u sit in a line, and complete the SH1tting.In other cities they paint the walls, but in mumbai it is already painted in red,by pan spitting.Mumbai is great, truly great city, never mind the toilet stink.

Just as the flight lands on mumbai airport, you can see people defacating right near the runway, then take a train, the scene continues.People dumping on the tracks. Its same in every corner of mumbai.
People doing number one or number two.
So it is obvious the city is number one and number two.Good to hear that but keep your nose closed.

by Vinay pai on Apr 25, 2011 09:08 AM  | Hide replies

Author of this article is either has evil motives behind it or he is dumb and foolish person on earth.
The Nariman point picture seems rosy. It's very tiny part. Rather show the pictures of Asia's largest SLUM and World's dirty and Crowdest Place Andheri, Goregaon and Malad. The Nariman point is just controlled by few mighty politicians and businessmen. Only few enjoy Luxury in Mumbai Rest Masses are suffering and dying everyday.
Show the worlds pictures of Local Trains and commutation. It's HELL OUT there. Also, this City is RUN by Mafia. So it's better if it's in Future US should take initiative and BOMB it for ever.

Becoming a leading business hub doesn't really translate into better lives for all. It is just a component of business. It means that doing business in India will be better, and that Mumbai will be one of the cities that will drive that growth.

Improving the lot of day to day people is the lot of politics and social minded entities, educational, spiritual institutions. One cannot look at business and trade to change the way people think or educate themselves, though they can be a catalyst or provide some financial help towards a cause.

Mumbai will have competition from within the country itself. The problem Mumbai would face is trying to attract investments and keep the profits within Mumbai. Add taxes to the mix and it is even more difficult to sustain in the long run.

Mumbai has to become something like Hong Kong to be able to achieve this sort of sudden growth that it is actually capable of. It has to be insulated from political turmoil, and has to be primed for business. Probably have a sort of ID card system which ensures that the people coming into the city are coming in for specific projects, and not without control. This doesn't mean people need a visa, but just that the influx of people can be better controlled (it will never be stopped), and that the right people are attracted to the right job.

The city also needs to become a major port, worldwise and also should attract more manufacturing industries for it to be sustainable. Water and electricity wastage needs to be managed better and recycling should be implemented in a big way, infact it should become a recycling hub for the region and the country, infact even water can be recycled for industrial use saving precious potable water for consumers.

While it might seem like an impossible dream, every major city in the world has had these problems in the past and some are encountering these challenges even now. But if the right direction is provided and the right investment is made, the people will definitely work hard to make Mumbai a world city
