Why the hell I need Apple??????
by alien netizen on Oct 22, 2010 09:50 AM

What more it catters to technologically? Almost nothing more than others?
what style statement does it make?
Lookwise nothing out of the world of other lappies. It tells i can afford a snob value. (It is like wearing a diamond studed undie.)
Convenience?
foget it. It is not yet a crystal ball which says it all when you look at it. So why so much fuss. It is still square. And i still could not forget the guy in the flight who was using Ipad. So much willingness to show off but what an odd piece of gadget he cant even hold it properly.
Value for money?
dont even ask for it. Its only very less value for too muh of money unless the snob vlue is added up.
ENJOY the Apple

Apple products are not meant for common man
by Shailesh Patil on Oct 21, 2010 11:14 PM  | Hide replies

The prices of Apple products, specially laptops are not meant for common man of India, simply go for HP/Dell where you get same config for half of the price. In USA people are crazy with Apple brand & have more money, so they buy it. Don't follow the trend but use your judgement based on your requirement. iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, MAC all are fail in India and I think also in China , though iPod is big success.

absolutely. recently a friend of mine had his macbook pro fail on him, they presented him a bill that could buy a regular dell/ hp laptop!

he went for a dell after due diligence, and a survey in the market. showed the apple showroom guys a middle finger, and said effyoupriceydouches to apple!

BS!
by Sudarsan on Oct 21, 2010 11:02 PM  | Hide replies

Apple laptops are just a style statement for the guys who have all the money in this world to spend. For $570, I got a HP laptop yesterday and it looks extremely stylish and high performance oriented with 4GB DDR3 memory, Turion dual core processor at 2.2Ghz, Windows 7 HP-64 bit, DVD burner and other accessories. Its a lot more than the Apple MBA but also its super stylish and highly affordable. Apple can never compete with the PC's as far as the common man goes. Just because some celebrities from the industry rave abt Apple laptops doesnt mean we buy them. Its a bomb to buy them and use them.

Also, Mac never get viruses and extremely reliable system in terms of performance. Never get stuck like windows machine

Very less community uses Apple MAC and so no need for hackers to put in virus. Please wake up and do not simply do gaga over hyper marketing done by Apple

yeah, a small minority buys those overpriced apple notebooks. they are nice ans shiny, but no thanks, i'd rather prefer something that's more powerful for significantly lesser. like three times as cheap as regular macs!

buy 2 Dells for the price of one apple
by wizardo id on Oct 21, 2010 10:54 PM

apple hardware is overpriced. repairs cost a bomb. you can buy a better or similar speced regular laptop for half the price, but unarguably with an ordinary/ ugly looking form factor. you have to skimp on some gloss/ osx - but win on a powerful laptop instead!

for example you can buy a new dell inspiron for 42k - 15.6 screen, 500gb hdd, phenom quad core 930N, 4gb ram ddr3, radeon 550v gfx card 1gbram. that kicks some serious ass, especially of apple.

similarly speced apple would cost at least 90k in the USA. probably a good lakh or more - that makes it 2.5 - 3 times the cost a similarly speced dell! amazing cost difference! for that price yu can buy a dell every year!

future of notebooks is a thin form factor ?
by wizardo id on Oct 21, 2010 10:41 PM

this is bullcrap journalism. more like paid shills.

agreed, apple is fantastic at engineering and product design, but how exactly is it the future of notbook computing ? even iphone was an improvement over existing hardware. the software was worked on for years and polished where sony, nokia had left. they made a great slick package true. but its nothing new. the last time someone truly made a "future of .." product was sony I suppose with their walkman.

Sony and Apple are the giants in the electronics industry, they have reaped such profits no person can ever imagine, with turnover around billions of dollars these companies can fund more of their R&D facilities hence improving the overall technology....hats of to them

How do I change my battery and increase hard disk space?
by nisha thoas on Oct 21, 2010 03:04 PM  | Hide replies

Hi, I have a 4 year old laptop, and i find now that the 20 gb space HD is almost full, and the battery has really weakened. I want to know if i should now go for a new one, or is it possible to get a brand new battery which will give me atleast an hours backup. Also, if i want more space, do i have to completely remove my existing HDD and install a new one? Then what happens to the old data which i dont want to lose? And my drive cannot burn dvds, so can i get it replaced as well? Please help..

Hello,

My suggestion is go for new laptop, which has good hardware configuration and supports Windows Vista / 7 Operating systems. Already Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP SP2 and in next few months it will stop supporting Windows XP SP3.

1. You can get new battery. depending on the model, it may be range anywhere between 2 to 5 K in india.
2. You can take the backup of your existing HDD and install a new HDD and copy back your backup. Additionly, you can purchase an external USB HDD. 500 GB would be around 4 K.
3. For DVD burning, again you can get an external USB drivern DVD Burner. Cost abt 3K.

you better get a new one,

new acer machines come as low as 25k

or else you can get 500gb portable ard drive for 4000 something and you can increase RAM for 3000rs get 2 gb more.
I would not recommend getting a new dvd burner.

I think, no need to be so tensed, just buy a new one of any brand of lowest price. definitly you will have more than the required features in less than the cost of replacement.

Apple and its controversies
by Jay Joshi on Oct 21, 2010 02:58 PM  | Hide replies

Apple certainly has an edge when it come to technology as wel as hyper-marketing, the heat of a new and to-be launch is what sells it.

Anyways, mez not a Apple fan anymore esp after their move of bridging Arunachal Pradesh as a Chinese territory in its built-in map of iPhone 4, of course on request of the chinese authority.

Disappointing is our government is sleeping over it...
