Among the project cost compared to other cities, Chennai spends 18000 crores of rupees. (Even comparing the distance, type of metro this is the costliest project). Why?? Is this because Politicians plundering peoples money???
For how many years they sustain this momentum of the Metro. If it goes on spreading further n further with development to boot, then we'll salute it undoubtedly. But chances are it will fizzle out into a disaster like all projects that are announced with a bravado but always end up in the scrapyard.

Roads are so narrow and encroached upon, you cannot dream of Metro, already project has blow into piece while on paper.
It is the first city where citizens have form a forum to oppose Metro.
For kochi metro rail union govt has not given the nod for a cent govt- state govt partnership. And they believe it is not feasible. Fine, we accept it if they say so. But they even delayed the construction of a railway over bridge by more than a year in one of the busiest routes in cochin, saying that the bid amount probably exceeds one crore. While 70,000 crore is awarded for the cwg (most of that we know has gone in to the pockets of politicians), and then one of the minister was involved in Rs 50,000 crore 2G scam, i wonder how could they delay a project which is long standing need of the people. May be, for them the needs of the people would be secondary
