have sought very very hard to cover up the issue of the 'superbug' NDM1 antibiotic resistant strain of virus that evolved in Indian hospitals. This superbug evolved due to two reasons :
1. The indiscriminate and widespread use of and prescriptions for antibiotics by doctors in India that was ignored by the medical council
2. The general conditions of poor hygiene prevailing in Indian hospitals including those that are very expensive (a crow cannot become a crane whatever it does, can it?)
The superbug issue is now dominating the headlines in the medical world internationally and has begun to reduce the growth in the inward flow of 'medical tourists' to the country (at least from the developed world where citizens have more awareness). But the Indian health authorities, instead of trying to address the issue in earnest, are seeking to put the issue under wraps just to help the ravenous corporate hospital sector !!
The best thing to do is treat them in Government Hospitals where we have lot of reserved Doctors . One many will not return to America but will go heaven - as their death is not due to their Karma but reservation .So there will be less pressure for jobs.
Private hospitals with good facilities are prohibitively costly for indian middle class and Lower income group. Already major hospital groups and doctors are minting money. Once health tourism picks up private treatment will become more costly and will cater exclusively to foreign patients and wealthy. Knowing the condition of public health care in our country.. GOD HELP US when we fall ill.
