Hold a candle for GR Gopinath, not for his daughter!!
by Prasad on May 30, 2010 09:24 PM  | Hide replies

GR Gopinath rose from a very ordinary background to change the rules of aviation business in India. And unlike other suckers he sold off at the right time and came out with tonnes of money which he thoroughly deserved. But I don't understand the brouhaha over his daughter. Air Deccan was ATR's best and most important customer. And if they gave a job to her it was only a business deal. She is yet to prove her mettle and is unlikely to be as interesting as her father. Looks like she bribed this correspondent to be shown larger than her shoes.

I think this author and rediff must have taken tons of money from all big-wigs to write load full of BS. Sample this about Aditya Mittal: "But he worked hard, often over 100 hours a week, to understand the world of mergers and acquisitions" That comes to about 15 hours per day, seven days a week. Is that possible? Sleep itself will be about 8 hours a day.. What about rest of the things? I was initially impressed and later realized that this is a sponsored BS

wtf..who sleeps 8 hrs a day in this day and age. what r u a thumb suckin' mommy's kid? At the place I work they have certified ergo professionals that openly declare that humans need only 6 hours rest in a day and I agree completely. Welcome to the new age, sloth!

@ YoBro I dont agree with that. Number of hrs u put in sleep has been found to be proportional with the nature of work u do. For ex. IT pros are asked to sleep min. 7 hrs. It also depends on other factors like R.E.M. The normal range is anywhere between 6 ~ 8 hrs.

Haha.. YOU JOKER... I really pity short sighted (no actually u r blind) ppl like u. Never in ur life will u ever be able to understand what it takes to become someone. 100 hrs a week? That is nothing.. just another number for an able person who wants more from life. That is why he is there where u can never ever be. Man u suck!

"..he double-majored in European history and economics" - what has that to do with running a coal business? It is just for namesake they want a "phoren" degree.

and .. After graduation "he spent a year working for The Exeter Group in New Orleans, implementing ERP systems in higher education institutes. " Again, education, work and future coarse seem to be out-of-sync.

This younger gen has everything easy for them...

how come all are graduates from IVY colleges
by abhishek chauhan on May 27, 2010 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

Business tycoons' sons or daughters had graduated from top IVY league colleges of the world. Is it because of their family connections that they were given admissions or they really studied hard to get in to those colleges passing through GMAT and other stuff.

Yes... you are right. All top colleges have seats for people who come from reputed families, and legal donations are encouraged.

All top colleges have reservations for such students. In some cases the GMAT is even waived. It helps build the reputation of the college and also gets donations.

very true, those positions are reserved for the rich class and not a competition on talent so there is nothing to be proud of to be called as young guns.

Bright future with Gen Nxt.
by SANDESH KAMATH on May 27, 2010 11:55 AM

Great to read this column and it gives you a great relief that the Gen Nxt is well prepared to face the challange of globalisation. Great to know about young guys.

Now, In contrast look at what our politicians are grooming their Gen Nxt ! Sharad pawar has already brought his daughter to parliament and has started teaching her how make very easy money in this country,Laloo n Son,Mulayam n Son,Karunanidhi n Family,Deve Gowda n Sons, Reddy Bros of Bellary,Praful Patel n Daughter, Goa's Rane n Son,Churchill n Family,Thakrey n Son,n many many more policians n their siblings across country.

One Gen Nxt will slog to make India a super power in all respects and another Gen Nxt of politicians will slog to bring down the nation to the slums,Poverty,Vote bank,Bribary & Corruption, and make self and family rich n prosperous n dubiously famous.
