Speed Post Facilities in Sub Post Office too
by Rakesh Roy on May 17, 2010 12:06 AM

I Ilve in an urban village and the distance of my village is about 15 km and is very well communicated from with the district head quarter. But sorry to say that my village post office which is a sub post office don't any SPEED POST FACILTIES. It is available only in the district head post office. It is a major reason that we don't use postal service in emergency. We rather use currier service which is in our village and very nicely working. So, there is an urgent need of speed post facilties in atleast Sub Post Offices.

Do not expect much

I dumped MTNL the day I could get Airtel, vowed never to visit MTNL again in my life. Had tried to give them a chance for broadband where Airtel was not available, one visit to their office and I went for Airtel EDGE/GPRS instead at higher cost.

Similarly, not so much though, I remember the pain of buying stamps or anything from a post office. Even sending a SPEED POST was like getting a favor. I went to a Post Office last time when SPEED POST mails was found torn and thrown by the presswala whom the Post man had handed over as he did not want to come to 2nd Floor.

Permanent jobs with no penalties can never give a good system.

Good but very late

So it took only 63 years for us to realize that such a huge national asset is being wasted due to corruption and callas attitude of the govt... good lets hope that some day it is able to drive the Blue Darts & DHLs out of business (after all the public money should only go to the Govt chest)

Need to improve Postal Banking System
by Monica Dharker on May 16, 2010 03:56 PM

My mother is a Railway Pensioner and she receives the pension through the Post Office. She is 89 yrs old hence my sister goes to the Post Office to handle my mother's Postal Savings Bank Account. There is a long queque of senior citizens at the post office and they have to wait for long hours at the post office. Some of them go there at 9 am and are able to get their job done only by 2 p.m. Post Offices should be better equipped to handle pension accounts and also postal savings of senior citizens who are not able to physically wait in queques for long periods. Postal Banking system's procedures and processes should be brought on par with Nationalised Banking systems. The postal staff should become more computer savvy to speed up the processes.

Happened to visit Avadi PO for a problem. The way the Post Master solved the problem is very professional. In fact PO can enhance their deposit rate, just to save our banks and FM intervention PO's have reduced the interest rates. Most affected are the retired personnel.

Excellent service keep it up.
